The man took a swig of his beer. He winced at the taste, the buzz wearing off. What he did tonight, he told himself, was not his fault. They had provoked, they had messed with his mind, they had cheated behind his back. They deserved what they got. Justice had been served on this stormy night. Grumbling, the man twisted around in his recliner. He was so far gone in his troubles that he had not noticed the shadow moving in the corner. It was hidden away but if the man had not been intoxicated then maybe, just maybe the man would have seen the dagger coming straight towards him.
