Kabanata 2: Ang Pagkahulog

I couldn't stop smiling habang inaalala ang mga nangyari kanina. And I know that smile is perilous. A very very dangerous one.

"So, ito na nga, he asked me for a date! Then, iyon— first time kong kinilig sa isang tao!" I happily hugged my bolster pillow, recalling what had transpired earlier.

"Here's your order, Ma'am and Sir," the waiter smiled at us as he carefully placed all of the food we had ordered on the table.

He took my order, and I saw him set it all out in front of me. His face appearance is now nearly incomprehensible. Mukhang high blood pa rin sa mga lalaki kanina.

"Thank you," saad ko sabay kuha ng wallet ko. I was ready to pull out my money, but I was taken aback when he started talking right away.

"It's my treat no need to pay po," he uttered, seriously. But even so, I still took one hundred fifty five pesos from my wallet and handed it to him

Kumunot ang noo niya sa ginawa ko.

"Tsk, sabi ko treat ko po," he rolled his eyes. Aba, mataray 'tong lalaking 'to, nang-iirap? "Mahal, treat ko po."

I quickly looked away. Mahal, amputa. Ang kapal na ng mukha nito, ha? Tumatapang?

"Nakakahiya kasi, akala ko charot-charot mo lang 'yan," I muttered while scratching my head using my hand and swiftly bagged my wallet.

Huminga siya nang malalim and he genuinely smiled at me. "Don't be shy, I'm treating my future wife. So, feel free," tungon niya sabay tingin sa mga mata ko.

Wife? Pinag-iisip ng lalaking ito? Is this the consequences of being smart? Nagiging delusional?

“Wife agad? Asawa agad? Ang aga mo naman,” I joked, hoping to lighten the mood. However, I could see his expression shift as he frowned once again. The playful banter felt misplaced, and I suddenly wondered if my humor was falling flat. Maybe this wasn’t the right time for jokes, and I should have taken his feelings more seriously.

"If marriage is not the point? Then what's the point?" he raised an eyebrow, looking at me as if he were my superior. In response, I shot him a challenging look, raising my own brow. Patarayan tayo.

"I want to court you because you are the one I desire to marry and grow old with," he said, his gaze fixed intently on my face. "I didn’t come into your life seeking attention; I came because all I truly want is your love." His serious tone left no room for misunderstanding, and I could feel the weight of his words hanging in the air between us.

I could feel my cheeks burning at his words. They were kind of corny and cringeworthy, yet undeniably wholesome. Then, he held my hand, and my heart raced uncontrollably. I felt like a fool, scared of the very guy I had been annoyed with just moments before.

“So, don’t worry; I won’t hurt you. I will love you until I have nothing left. I don’t want to give up because I don’t want to have any regrets,” he added earnestly. At that moment, my lips slowly began to form a smile, warmth spreading through me as his words resonated deep within my heart. I felt a sense of hope blooming, as if his promise had the power to chase away all my fears and doubts.

He's nice guy, should I give him a chance— wait, what? I thought you were mad at him? What is this behavior! I should be mad! Anong give him a chance? Malandi ka ba, Quezhia?!
