Complicated

Part 5 - Nothing Going On

You all walk into the party deck and everyone turns to look at you three.

You immediately look for Steve and see with his mouth wide open.

"I told you!" Nat whispers to you

You smile and lock eyes with him as you're walking in.

As you start to walk toward him Tony stops you. "Mya I can't believe you did this!"

You give him a hug "Happy Birthday dad" he pulls you up to the stage and takes the mike.

"Hello everyone, how are you all doing?" Tony starts, Everyone cheers.

"Can we give this wonderful woman a round of applause, none of this would've been possible with out her" he says and turns toward you.

"I had a lot of help" you say pointing at Wanda and Nat.

"Well thank you, and everyone in the team that helped." He looks around at the Avengers, then back at you.

"I am so grateful that you came into my life. I feel like you came to me when I needed you the most. You make me a better person. You turned my whole life upside down and I wouldn't change it for the world" he says to you. Everyone claps, your eyes fill with tears.

"I'm supposed to be giving a speech not you!" You say as you hug him.

"It's my birthday, I can do whatever I want" he says squeezing you, you laugh and try to walk out the stage, he pulls your hand and stops you.

"One more thing, I love you more than life, I will do anything for you and I have all these witnesses, if ANYONE hurts you they'll have to deal with me." He adds. You notice Steve looks away, Tony finally lets you go, he puts his drink up. "Ok let's Party!"

Everyone cheers again and you walk down the stage, you notice Steve sitting by himself at the bar, looking down at his drink. You walk over and sit next to him.

"Hey, you ok?" You ask as you sit.

He looks up at you, smiles and nods. "Yes, y-you look so beautiful" he say nervously and he avoids eye contact.

You take his glass and smell it. "Hmm drinking too much, Captain"

He laughs "I can't get drunk even if I tried"
You give him back the drink "That's right I forgot"

"So my dad is on to us" you whisper and turn towards him.

"What do you mean?" He glances at you, confused.

"You know, he says we are always close and apparently has cameras all around the tower, he wants to know what's going on" you explain.

He looks down, "There's nothing going on, why would he think that?"

You turn back toward the bar, you have gotten close to him and thought there was something more.

"Oh, yeah. N-No... Of course not. I-I said we were just friends." You look down, there's an awkward silence. You wish there was something else you can say, but you can't.

"I'm going to get a drink" you stand up and go behind the bar.

You get a glass and pour some juice and mix it with liquor.

"Want a refill?" Steve looks at you and slides his glass towards you. You fill it up and place his glass down while he tries to take it, he touches your hand.

You move it away awkwardly and walk around back to your seat.

You take a sip, you hear his words in your head "there's nothing going on" you sip your whole drink and get another one.

Steve glances, but still quiet.
You keep hearing his words in your head. "There's nothing going on" you chug the drink again and serve another one.

You keep making drink after drink and lost count, you feel a bit drunk now.
Steve still quiet.

You look at him, but he continues to look down at his drink. you

"You should go and enjoy the party with everyone else" He finally says

You roll yourself . "Well I think I'm just gonna go to bed" you take the last sip of your drink

After traveling back and forth Tony finally let you get a room at the tower instead of staying at Hotels.

You go around the bar to leave and Steve grabs your arm.

"Wait I'll walk with you" you and Steve walk in silence toward the elevator.

While in the elevator he asks "Are you ok?" You nod. You wish you could say something.
After the awkward silence, you get to your door.

"Good night" Steve says to you and he pauses and starts to walks toward his room.

As you're about to grab the doorknob you feel a rush of blood all over your body, you turn and say "really nothing going on Steve?"

He stops. "Is it really nothing to you?" He turns around and looks at you.

He walks back towards you and stops in front of you. You look up at him and he stares at you. "Mya" He cups your cheek and leans toward you.

You hear Tony clear his throat at the end of the hall and Steve takes a step back. Your eyes wide "Mya... Rogers" Tony starts to walk closer.

"Well good night" you open your door and get in before Tony gets closer to you.

You hear another door close and a knock on your door. "Uhh, I'm going to sleep"

"Good night hun" Says Tony from outside the door.

You hear his footsteps as he walks away and go to bed.

You lay on the bed and keep thinking about Steve until you finally go to sleep.
