I put my face up against the class. The doctor stood there shaking his head. My stomach churned. Everything felt unreal. My feet couldn't hold me up. I collapsed to the floor, put my face in my hands.
Then I heard a cheering. A nurse came out to me with a huge grin on her face. How was this funny? How is it appropriate to laugh? Then it clicked. I sprinted into the room. Lewis' chest was moving up and down. His face slowly becoming less chalky and white. He was alive! HE WAS ALIVE! I leant down and gave him a kiss on the cheek. The edges of his mouth moved slowly to resemble a smile. Lewis' smile. My baby was okay.
