She wiped the tears with the back of her hands, nodded, and exhaled deeply.
"You can do this. You're Tiwalola. The supergirl in our midst."
"Stop it, IB. I'm not."
"You are and I'm being honest. It is the truth." The doorbell rang and they paused. Their eyes locked and Lola heaved a sigh. "Remember, you can do this." Ibukun rubbed her arms reassuringly then she pulled her into an embrace.
Lola hugged her friend tightly. Heaven knows she needed it. And Ibukun didn't disappoint her as she embraced her back, soothing her back.
"You can do this Lola. I believe in you." She pulled away with a smile. "I'll call to know how it goes. Make sure to turn your phone on." Lola nodded.
"Ibukun..." Lola called as she got to where her makeup bag was laying. She turned back to her as she held to the handle of her bag. "Thank you for everything. I love you."
"I love you too Bella. I have to go. We don't want to keep a Billionaire waiting."
She smiled and she wheeled her bag away. She took Lola's car key that was beside the TV settee in the living room and she walked over to the door to open it.
"Hello. Good morning. Sorry for keeping you waiting." She greeted Demilade who stood nervously at the door.
"It's no biggie. Good morning." He said with a small smile. "Looks like you are on your way out."
She looked down at her bag and nodded. "Yes, I have a place to be. She is inside and she's expecting you."
"That's a relief then."
"Yes." She shook her head.
"Thank you, IB. I won't even be here if you haven't decided to open up about Lola's location."
"I want the best for her. Moreover, some good things come with her being with you. A lot of good things and I don't want that to end." She chuckled. "It is funny but it's the truth." She said honestly.
She can't count all the benefits she had gotten from her friend ever since she started dating Demilade. From giving her connections to good clients to shopping and others. What would she gain if she let it crumbles?
Demilade seem pleased with her honesty.
"I appreciate your honesty. Is there... anything I can do to help... to appreciate what you've done?" He asked her.
A wide smile spread on Ibukun's face and she peered at him. "Yes, there is one." She stared intently at him. "Please forgive her. She was just scared and hurt. And she won't do anything to intentionally hurt you. Lola is better than that. She hardly plays with people's emotions... unlike us. So she can't do that and talk less about doing so to the guy she loves. So I hope you can do that little favor for me. As I said, there is nothing I am going to gain if I see your relationship end with her."
"I never intend or pray for that to happen either," Demilade said quietly. "But... I think I can do just that. I didn't come here to judge her either."
"That's a huge relief then. Then I trust my friend is in good hands. Thanks, Demmy." She smiled at him.
"I should be the one thanking you." Ibukun gave him a look that said 'what for'. And Demilade answered her unasked question. "For being a good friend to Lola. Good friends are hard to find."
She cares about Lola. Her actions and words said it all. And that kind of friend doesn't appear every day.
"What kind of friend would it make me when I abandon my friend when she needed me the most?" She asked rhetorically. "Go get your girl Demmy." She said as she pulled the two bags with her out of the house. Demilade moved aside for her to walk through. "Bye." She said as she pressed the car button in her hand. The car sounded from wherever it was.
