My breathing was raspy, feel my lungs being squeezed. My parents were looking down at me, holding my hand, telling me everything was going to be okay. But it wasn't. They were crying, I was crying. I thought I was going to die.

My vision went cloudy, doctors were rushing around me. Tubes were coming out of my body at about every different angle. When I woke up I had my family and friends at the end of my bed with tear stained faces.

Alive. They hugged me and cried again. They thought I was going to die. So did I. My burns stung and it hurt to swallow but I was alive. That's all that mattered.

I was alive.
