"You bet," I said. The awkward tension between us could practically be cut with a knife. He rubbed his neck, not knowing what to say next. We stood in extremely awkward silence for a couple of minutes before he gently cleared his throat.
"I'm gonna go get some shut-eye," he said. "Don't crash the ship... especially since I'm on it." He smiled, then turned around and started walking towards the stairs to go below deck. He then looked back up at me and stared for a second.
"Goodnight Love," He said.
"Goodnight Blondie," I said, smiling back. He then continued down the stairs to the lower deck.
~Time skip.~
The sun had barely kissed the horizon when I spotted land through the ship's telescope. A sliver of golden light broke the monotony of the endless sea, signaling our approach to the familiar shores of Storybrooke. I squinted, shielding my eyes from the early morning rays.
"Land ho!" I shouted, my voice carrying over the deck.
I knew I only had a few minutes before I had to wake everyone up before we de-board. I looked down and saw that I was still wearing Felix's cloak.
Shoot, how was I supposed to get it to him? I looked around and saw the spare rope I had used last night in me and Felix's game of 'keep away.' I used the rope to tie the wheel again and quickly took off the cloak. I ran as quietly as I could below deck and looked around for Felix. I noticed Felix still asleep in his hammock, his blonde hair falling messily over his forehead. I approached him and placed the cloak at the foot of his hammock.
Suddenly, his eyes fluttered open, catching me in the act. A smirk tugged at his lips.
"Trying to sneak away, are we?" he teased, his voice husky with sleep.
I froze, caught. "I—I was just returning this," I stammered, pointing to the cloak.
Felix sat up, rubbing his eyes. "You could have just handed it to me."
"I didn't want to wake you," I muttered, embarrassed.
He chuckled softly. "You didn't."
I stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to say. Felix swung his legs over the side of the hammock, his bare feet hitting the cold wooden floor with a soft thud. He reached for the cloak, but instead of taking it, he draped it over my shoulders once more.
"Keep it," he said simply.
Before I could protest, he stood and stretched, his muscles rippling beneath his tight shirt. "I'll be on deck," he added, giving me a meaningful look before exiting.
I stood there for a moment, the weight of the cloak—and his words—settling over me.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, the people sleeping below ship arose and came to greet me and a few others on the ships upper deck.
"Good job Lass," my dad said to me, patting my back. "Thanks for steering for me." I nodded my head groggily, and Hook took the wheel to help us dock. I probably looked absolutely exhausted from having to stay up all night but I still had a job that I was expedited to do.
I saw Felix look at me with sad eyes. It was if he knew that I didn't want to do it but I was 'expected to...' I just had to...
Per usual when my dad and I went sailing, I walked off to one of the rope ladders on the side of the ship and climbed up on it. It was a typical docking technique: I would begin shouting things to look out for and steer clear of, while my dad docked us.
After my dad got us close enough to the docks, I proceeded to jump out onto the peer and took a few ropes from inside the vessel to tie us to the dock's wood. Neal, on Hooks command, lowered the anchor. Then I began getting the walkway connecting the ship to the docks ready, so people could easily walk off the ship and step onto the dock.
