P r o l o g u e

Flames painted the sky above our heads a fiery color as the pack house I was raised in started to collapse beneath their intense heat. Smoke filled everyone's lungs and vision and all we could do was cry for the unfortunate souls that hadn't made it out in time.
I could feel my own lungs starting to give up their fight against the ash currently blocking the air from getting into my lungs. My chest heaved up and down sporadically, leaving me with widened eyes as I realized that I might be dying at that moment.
The small remnant of what once used to be my home finally collapsed and quenched the flames' hunger for destruction.
And that was the last thing I saw before I succumbed to the darkness.
