"I'm so sorry honey. Had you ever tried to get in touch with your parents?" Esme asks.

"They'd be dead by now, but um, yeah I did actually. After Jasper went missing, I searched for him for months. I turned eighteen, and was able to travel anywhere. I resigned from the army and my place as lieutenant colonel, and traveled anywhere I could. I ended up in Versailles. It was a forty minute drive from Paris, so I went. I decided to stop by, and see how they were. I hadn't been home in over a year and I was close to the area. Everything was good. The day I arrived, I got to see my family and friends."

Edward:

I go out back where I saw Bella go. I had laid Renesmee down, and followed Bella.
"Hey."

"What? Shouldn't you be in there with your mate?"

"Maybe. But... she doesn't want me." Bella slightly turned her head to look at me, then went back to staring out into the forest.

"How come? I mean, you're pretty great."

"She just doesn't believe in love, or mates. But Carlisle said I should give her a few days to come to terms with it, maybe she'd change her mind if she had time to process it."

"Seriously Edward?" Bella asks. "You're still going to push it? She doesn't want a relationship or a mate, so why bother? Why not just let it go? If not for you, or me, then do it for Renesmee. Our daughter. Because I'm sure she doesn't want to grow up feeling like she's torn between her parents. Me, you, and her. You shouldn't be in there with Hope! You should be with me and our daughter! Okay?"

"Bella don't you get it?! I can't be with you. I will still be present in her life! But I cannot be with you. I met my mate and I'm not just going to give up on her. I'm going to try and I'm going to show her the love she deserves. If Renesmee feels like she's torn between me and you, then we talk to her as her parents. But she seems to like Hope!"

"I don't!" Bella yells back.

"Well I don't care. She's meant to be with me, and me with her. I don't care what you say or what you think Bella."

"So you're just going to leave me? Everything we've ever been through, it was all for what, nothing?"

"No Bella, it wasn't for nothing! I just can't be with someone I don't love!"

"That's not what you said forty-eight hours ago. You know, before Hope showed up." Bella storms off, getting in her car and speeding down the road. I sigh, going inside. I slam the back door. I enter the living room next to the kitchen. Everyone was down there, and so was Hope.

"She just needs some time to cool off." Carlisle says.

"I think Bella's dangerous." All of our heads snap up and we stare blankly at Hope.

"Bella? Dangerous?" Emmett scoffs. "Please. As a human, she couldn't hurt a fly. She was shy, socially awkward, skeptic."

"She's not a human anymore Emmett. And as a shield, she's pretty powerful. Edward can't read her mind, none of us know what she's thinking. And she still has the strength of a newborn. She's only been a vampire for a week. So yes, Bella's dangerous. She has a kid. She's braver, stronger. She's a threat to Renesmee."

"She wouldn't hurt her own daughter." Alice replies.

"She would with reason. To get back at Edward, to hurt him. Or she'd try to hurt any one of you."
Hope had a point. I don't think Bella would stoop low enough as to hurt Renesmee but I don't put it past her to try to hurt my family, or Hope.

"This is all my fault." I mutter.

"No it isn't, Edward." Hope says. She stands from the couch and walks over to me. She puts a hand on my left arm, as both of them were crossed over my chest. My right hand takes hers.

"Hopefully Bella calms down." Esme states.

"Hope, why don't you go get Renesmee?" I ask her.

"Uh sure, where's her room?"

"Rose'll join you." I say. Rose and Hope leave the room, and we continue talking.
"I don't think Bella will hurt Renesmee. But we still can't be vulnerable. I can't read her thoughts."

"It's alright, Edward. I'm sure Bella will come to her senses." Carlisle replies.

Hope:

"So, you're Edwards mate." Rose says as we walk up the stairs.

"Yeah, apparently so. But I don't need nor do I want a mate. No disrespect to Edward, or you, or your family of course, I just don't believe love is real."

"I get it, I didn't think that either when I turned. Until I met Emmett."

"I just can't handle anymore disappointment in my life."

"You think Edward's going to disappoint you?" Rose asks.

"No! That's not what I meant. I meant, love disappointing me. I did find love. When I was a naive, young girl. He was sweet, cute, and popular among my family. He was the son of a.. close friend of the family. He kissed another girl, and his sister was with me when it happened. She slapped both of them, I ended the relationship, and left Paris. Then in the army, well, things just happened. What I'm saying is, love just isn't for me."

"You never know until you try. My advice, don't give up on it. Marrying Emmett was truly the best decision I've ever made in my entire life." Rose says with a small smile.
She leads me into Renesmee's room, and I get her from her crib. She's such a cute little girl. She's gotten bigger though. Carlisle and the family filled me in on her growth rate. She's growing much faster than any other baby. I'm worried about that. Edward can't lose her, she's his rock. I can tell his entire world revolves around her. And Jacob's. I won't let Bella harm Renesmee, I mean, after all, protecting her is the whole reason I was called here.

I have big plans for Bella, stay tuned.

It's not that I don't like Bella because in the movies, once she becomes a vampire and a mother, I think she does way better. I didn't like her as a human but as a vampire she was a better person. But her role in this book is a jealous ex girlfriend and you'll see how much that affects the plot here soon.
