"I doubt it."
Edward snarked under his breath as he ducked into a grove out of sight from Krystal and sped away, keeping his eyes on Reina who had passed out sometime during his arrival.

Reina stirred awake to the feeling of ointment being rubbed into her skin over the inflicted areas and she let out a groan as she opened her heavy eyes and blearily looked around her.
The lights were dimmed so her eyes weren't burned by any bright lights and the room contained several pieces of medical equipment and at first, she thought she was in the hospital again but the lack of sterile smell and cleanly whites that she hated in real medical rooms put that thought to rest.

Slowly trailing her eyes from the hands gently rubbing ointment onto her arms she finally met the golden eyes of the Cullen patriarch.

"I'm glad to see you're awake and even more glad to see you again, however I'm not glad that it had to be within these circumstances. I hate to see you in any pain."
Reina dumbly followed him with her eyes as he walked across the room to pick up a penlight.
"You gave us all quite the scare. Edward brought you here though. To our home. He figured you wouldn't want to worry your Mother."

Reina blinked slowly as Carlisle came to face her and held the bright penlight up to her eyes, calmly instructing her to follow his free hand (which was waving around in front of her) with her eyes. Reina however, couldn't help but continually move her eyes back to his face causing him to playfully chide her.

After not finding anything wrong with her eyes, Carlisle let out a breath he didn't need and stared at Reina for a moment or two

After not finding anything wrong with her
eyes, Carlisle let out a breath he didn't need and stared at Reina for a moment or two.

Reina's face blushed scarlet and she found she couldn't meet his eyes anymore and instead dropped them to the bedsheets, trying to find anything of interest there.

"Thanks for looking after me Dr Cullen but I should probably go now. I am healthy enough to leave yeah? My Mums probably worried. Krystal too."
"You're very welcome Reina and yes you're perfectly healthy, aside from some bruising but I would feel a lot better if I could keep you a little longer. Just to make sure you have no negative side effects."
Carlisle answered her, Reina only managing to catch a glimpse of heavy concern and some curiosity on his face before it was gone and a smile met her instead.

Reina paused and thought about it. She had to admit the sound of staying longer was tempting since it would allow her to ogle the patriarch, however she felt extremely uncomfortable being in his house, she didn't know him or his family too well and Reina knew it would definitely get awkward.

Reina was ready to decline and be firm in her decision to go home when a knock resonated through the room. Reina watched as Jasper came into view and spoke quietly with Carlisle. Far too quiet and quick for her to be able to hear.

Both Cullen men turned to look at Reina for a moment before Carlisle gave a nod to Jasper. Reina could only think that Jasper must have asked permission to do something with her as Jasper came towards Reina a moment later and asked her if she'd like to spend some time reading together before she went home.

Reina's previous decision to leave melted away at Jaspers southern drawl and she could have sworn she heard a bell like voice squeal with joy somewhere else in the house.
"Yeah, I'd love to."

Reina flushed and a breath caught in her throat when Jasper gently picked her up and bridal carried her downstairs into the living room where he had created a blanket fort with stacks of books placed nearby, as if he already knew she'd say yes.

"Any book requests? Carlisle, Edward and I hoard a variety of books so I'm sure there's something you'll like here."
Jasper spoke out, placing Reina in the fort, moving the books closer to her.

Reina almost shivered when he spoke and had to remind herself to breathe when he smirked as if he knew that his voice had effects on her.
"It might sound stupid but do you have any books on war?"
Reina finally managed to ask, dragging her eyes down the tower of books stacked near her to read their titles.

Turning to look at Jasper after not hearing any reply she turned just in time to see him wet his lips with his tongue.
"I think I have a book you'll love in that case. Be my good girl and stay there. I'll be right back."

Reina's breath caught in her throat and she internally squealed. Reina had thought that this was gonna be a terrible day after her freak show at Krystal's but after being cared for by Carlisle and now getting to hang out with Jasper, she changed her mind. Her only problem was that the Cullens had some serious effects on her and she wasn't sure why and it frustrated her. Every word Jasper had said went straight to her core and Reina wasn't sure how she was gonna concentrate on reading with him beside her.

Hearing footsteps Reina watched Jasper enter the room with an old and almost tattered book in his hand, looking rather pleased as he came closer to Reina. Sitting down next to Reina he dropped the book in front of him and Reina marvelled at how old it was.
"It's not really a book because it's a journal but it's about the Southern war. A solider wrote it, all his days, his experiences. In here."
Jasper told her as he tapped the book lightly.

"That was a soldiers real journal? How did you get it

"That was a soldiers real journal? How did you get it. Surely it should be in a museum or something."
Reina whispered out in awe.

"Well he was a Major if you want to be technical"-Jasper smiled towards Reina and let out a chuckle-"and I got the journal because it rightfully belongs to me."
Jasper explained to her, watching her carefully.

"Woah, a Major?! He must've been a really good fighter then. Are you sure it's ok to read it? If it's your ancestors then we don't have to. I understand it might be private."
Reina rambled not wanting to disrespect Jaspers family.

Jasper only smiled in return, internally cooing at how she had misunderstood whose journal it was and how sweet she was to care about his privacy.
"I assure you, it's more than ok. I only ask that you be careful with it. A lot of memories are in there."

Reina assured him in return that she would be careful and let out a squeak as she was lifted onto his lap and had the journal placed In hers.
Reina's eyes widened and she felt out of place and awkward as she immediately tensed.
Normally Reina would have smacked someone for lifting her into their lap like she was theirs to do that intimate thing with but she couldn't help but feel like she sort of belonged there especially when his arms wrapped around her waist.

It was only when she opened the first page to the journal that she felt her discomfort somehow wash away and she fell into tranquility, unconsciously laying back into Jaspers chest, content to stay there for a while.
