Chapter 9
Macey was woken up by the sound of a ringing alarm clock, she picked up her phone. It's 4:00 in the morning. She started packing her bags sleepily, when her mother came in.
"Macey? Cole texted me that he and his brother will pick you up at 4:45," she said.
"4:45?!" Macey rushed, throwing everything on her luggage.
"I'll help you pack up, go and take a bath," her mother started packing her luggage neatly and made sure that she packed everything her daughter will need.
A drop of cold water touched Macey's skin as she turned the shower on. She's thinking of Cole, it'll be awkward. And also Chase, they haven't been talking since last 11 years. She went out of the bathroom and her mother just finished packing her things.
"Thank you mom," she gave a peck on her mother's cheek.
"Sure honey, go downstairs and have a breakfast."
Macey went downstairs with her luggage and a backpack. She sat on the dining table and she started eating her breakfast. His little brother sat the opposite direction of hers while he's rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning Mason," she greeted.
"Good morning sis," his head fell on the table and she chuckled.
Ellie asked, "Mason, what do you want? Bread or cereals?"
"Cereals," he answered.
Ellie handed him cereals and he started eating. The door bell rang twice and Macey panicked. She rushed to the sink and she carefully place her dishes there.
"I'll open it," she suggested.
She went to the door with her luggage and she saw Cole and Chase with their wet hair. They only have one luggage each and it's not that big. Their school bus is waiting outside.
"Goodbye and be careful," her mom shouted while waving her hands in the air.
Cole insisted to carry Macey's luggage but she refused. Cole got in first and then Macey but she's struggling. Her luggage is heavy that she can't even lift it. She noticed that her luggage started floating.
"You can't even lift your bag even an inch, how weak," Chase commented.
"I'm not weak!" she shouted.
She got in and she searched for an empty seat. She saw Cole with Jane and she ignored them, at the back, she found an empty seat beside Chase. She doesn't want to sit beside him and she want to avoid the awkwardness between them. She saw an empty seat in front of Chase, so she decided to sit there. She put her earphones on. She saw Jake searching for an empty seat. She wished that this bastard won't notice her.
"Macey? Can I sit here?" he asked.
"You can't."
"Why? It's an empty seat."
"You just can't. Go away."
"Look, I'm sorry, okay?"
"Ugh," she exhaled irritatingly.
"That seat is taken," Chase interrupted. He sat beside here and he closed his eyes. Jake left.
"Thank you," she said but he ignored her.
Ms. Piper asked cheerfully, "Are all the students here?" they all nod, "okay! Let's go!"
She was feeling a little sleepy and her head was about to fall. Chase placed her head on his shoulders and she smell his scent. His scent has a touch of sweetness but was still masculine.
"Don't drool."
"I don't drool!"
"Shut up, you're annoying."
She stopped arguing and minutes later she fell asleep.
"Macey."
"Macey," she can hear a faint voice calling her.
A pair of cold hands touched her cheek, tapping it in a gentle manner. She realized that she was in a bus and she opened her eyes lazily. She fixed her position and saw Chase looking at her with a straight-faced.
"Where are we?" she asked, rubbing her eyes.
Chase wore his jacket and he fixed his things, "We're already in the camp," he said in a husky voice, "You should wear a jacket, it's pretty cold here."
His hair was a mess, but he still look so good. His eyes are a bit watery, and he's yawning quietly. It's obvious that he fell asleep earlier.
Chase got out of the bus first then Macey. As soon as she got out of the bus, she saw Cole with his girlfriend. Holding hands.
She ignored it. Again.
She saw Chase with someone. She has a ginger colored hair that flows up to her waist. She's kinda hot. But they seem to be arguing. She can hear the girl shouting but she can't hear what she was saying. After a couple of minutes the girl left stomping her feet. Chase brushed his hands on his brown hair.
"Chase," she called, but he didn't look back, "Chase!" she called once again, a bit louder this time.
"What?!" he said, annoyed.
"I was just calling you why are you so irritated," Macey raised her voice a little.
"Ugh, fine, what is it?" he groan.
"If you don't want to talk to me then just say it, you don't have to be mad at me," and with that, she left.
