The Morning After

Start from the beginning

Tian whose eyes went wide like a deer caught in headlights gulped down a chunk of saliva, a pricking excitement buzzed in his gut. Phupha withdrew himself from a paced-out Tian, his lips stretched thin, Tian's ears were startling pink. "Don't mind if I use the washroom do you?"

"Of course not, Huwhna. Go ahead."

"Later, I'll do down and greet your parents, meanwhile you can fresh up, ok?" Tian simply nodded. "I still sneaked and I don't want to be disrespectful.  I just want to tell him that I care deeply about their son."

"Then we'll do this together."

Tian's cheeks flushed red and a wave of shyness or silly embarrassment washed over him. He could only nod his head again.  Upon Tian's insistence, Phupha waited for Tian as he quickly brushed and washed his face.

When Tian and Phupha walked hand in hand down the stairs, Tian's father looked his he was already expecting them, he didn't look the least bit surprised rather he smiled at them and wished them a good morning, Mrs. Lalitha was laying out the plates on the table.

"Good Morning  Tian. Chief Phupha."

It was evident that Chief Phupha wanted to say something first but Mrs. Lalitha hushed him with her stern nod indicating them to sit down.

It was half-past eight when they all settled down for breakfast. Tian sat next to Phupha and his parents sat across them. Tian's dad happily served Toast, eggs, and bacon to his wife while she sat there with a fond smile on her face. The issue of Phupha walking down the stairs with Tian wasn't addressed yet and it made the young couple more awkward to bring it up themselves. Tian looked at his congee to Phupha and then to his parents, underneath the table his chief squeezed his hand to calm him down.

"Tian don't be so distracted while eating, finish your congee."  Mr. Teeyarut spoke while taking a crunchy bite of his toast."

"Yes Poh."

"See Chief Phupha is also eating congee to keep you company, isn't that thoughtful of him?" Mrs. Teeyarut passed some bacon to Phupha's plate. "Chief Phupha does eat a little, I'm sure Tian won't mind. When his fever subsides I'll cook you both delicious food."

Chief Phupha felt a gentle tug in his heart. Mrs Teeyarut seemed calmer and smiled more than the first time they met. "Don't look so conflicted Khun Phupha, let's talk after breakfast."

"Of course Not Madame." Phupha returned a charming smile and Mrs. Teeyaru couldn't help but be momentarily swayed by it. She simply chuckled.

Tian was more enthusiastic than ever to attack that bowl of congee so he can finish the talk with his parents and somehow convenience his man to cuddle him all day. He was not sick but was willing to cash on it more. The young master in him loves all the attention from time to time, now that's was flowing with all the affection for Phupha he wants all the attention and kisses. Being a man himself he never imagined himself craving for another until he crashed with the charming halo of Chief Phupha.  Life takes you by surprise and here he is, loving every moment with his love.

Tian helped his mom clearly away all the dishes and they returned back to their seats with a cup of coffee blowing faint vapors in front of them.

"We just spoke to the doctor, honey, he said Tian's symptoms might be due to an abrupt change of weather and water. He's prescribed some medicines, nothing to worry about."

"Commander and Madame, I'm sorry I sneaked in last night without your permission when you clearly wanted some alone time with Tian." Phupha's brows were furrowed, he had an apologetic tone as he joined his hands together as a sign of respect.  "I was worried that something's off about his usual self."

"Khun Phupha it's alright, Tian gets clingy when he's feeling slightly off or sick. He's been doing it since he was a kid. He loves those head pats and quick hugs from his mom. Still a clingy kid."

"Poh, why are you teasing me?"

"All I'm saying is Chief Phupha is trying to spoil you as much."

"He's not trying, because he does it just right." Tian was boldly throwing heart eyes at Chief Phupha sitting across his parents in between Phupha's apology. "Tian." Both his mom and Chief Phupha gently reprimanded him simultaneously but his mom's voice was more audible. Tian giggled as dived his lips into the coffee mug.

"It's fine Chief Phupha. You are both adults now, although one refuses to grow up." Mrs. Teeyarut glanced at Tian who was hiding half his mouth in a huge red coffee mug. She could tell he was still smiling behind it. "You are dating now so it definitely fine to take care of each other in need."

"Mae just yesterday you were against it, what brought upon such a sudden change?"

"Your father and I had a long talk after you dramatically stormed out son. He made me understand that I have nothing against Chief Phupha or him dating you. I know that We've ignored talking about this for a long time, Tian, I love you so much, I'm worried about your well-being. Your future."

Tian left his death immediately and went to hug his mom who was still seated trying to real back the tears pooling in her eyes. "I love you too Mae. Sorry for yelling at you last night "  She gently tapped his arm and smiled.

"Tian, I'm sure we still have a lot to talk about, the extent of your stay, your future plans. We will only approve of it if you consider your plans sincerely. That goes for you to Chief Phupha. I'm sure you are one step ahead of Tian."  Mr. Teyyarut's words made Tian whip his head towards Chief Phupha looking at him questioningly.
