"Let’s go? He’s waiting."
Nakangiting saad ni Elysse habang inaayos niya ang kanyang seatbelt. I nodded as I started the engine.
It’s Sunday. People may see it as a regular non-working day. But it is something special for her.
Because it’s Nathan's Death Anniversary.
"Teka, ’yung mga pagkain?"
"Nasa likod na."
"How about the flowers?"
"We’ll pick them up later."
I’ve never seen Elysse this nervous kaya hinawakan ko ang kamay niya to assure that everything will be alright.
"Kaya pa? You look pale already."
"Wait, am I that obvious?"
"Yes. Don’t think too much about it, Mahal. I’ll be fine. And, it’s not like he’ll rise from his grave."
"Wyatt, you’re not helping."
Natawa ako sa inasal niya. She’s so cute when she acts like that. I think I might kiss her anytime.
"Stop pouting, Mahal."
"Lakas mong mang-asar ’eh."
"Bakit? Nakakatawa ’yung itsura mo, parang natatae na ewan. It will be okay, trust me."
She kissed my cheeks and I didn’t see that coming. That’s why I can feel my cheeks burning.
"Look who’s red as potato now."
"Mahal, tomato ’yun."
"What? Nabago na pala."
"Ewan ko sa’yo."
Hindi na namin namalayang narating na pala namin ang flower shop na binilhan namin ng bulaklak.
Nang makuha na namin ay dumiretso na agad kami sa sementeryo, biglang natahimik si Elysse.
"Nandito na tayo."
Nauna na akong lumabas ng kotse para bitbitin ang mga dinala namin papunta sa puntod niya.
"Hello, I’m back again."
Umupo si Elysse para sindihan ang kandilang hawak niya. I just watch her and I can't help but to smile.
"But this time, I’m with someone."
Tumingin siya sa’kin saka niya hinawakan ang kamay ko, she looks happy.
And that’s what all matters to me.
"Meet Wyatt Delgado, my boyfriend."
Grabe, ang sarap naman sa ears.
"After years of longing, I can fiinally say that I'm okay. I'm so happy that I was able to meet you."
Elysse is so strong, I’m so proud.
"And I’m also thankful that even you're not here anymore, you’re still here watching me. And you gave me reason to love again. I got to meet many people."
She looked at me and held my hand.
"I got to meet him, and I’m so thankful to have him in my life."
Nakaramdam kami ng malakas na hangin. I know that it wasn’t just a wind.
It was Nathan.
"I’m already good, Nathan. Thank you for everything, I love you and you’ll always be in my heart."
Nathan will always be part of Elysse’s life. And I’m grateful that he made her happy.
Nathan, I promise you.
