"Well, I was thinking for you to cook since we're going to be at your place, is that a problem?" Shin laughed while scratching his head
"It isn't but it depends if this smoke clears out. Where is it even coming from?"
"Well, are you cooking something?"
"My pancakes! Shit! I'll see you at work" Miyake tossed his phone on the couch and turned off the oven, holding his head
"Honestly...how stupid can I be. I was standing right in front of them and didn't notice that they were burning." Miyake sighed and tossed the pancakes into the trash can "Guess I'm going to the supermarket" He put on a suit and walked towards the front door
"I'll get going now," He looked a picture frame of an older woman and a boy hugging a dog, a sad smile flashed briefly on Miyake's face as he walked out
"Two sandwiches, wait for the train then it's back to the lab"
Miyake Masumi, a twenty-year-old man. Alone he moved to Tokyo hoping to start a new life. Thanks to his accomplishments he landed a job at a major chemistry lab. There he met Shin Hiroyuki, a friendly guy who was in the interview room along with Miyake. After discovering that they share similar interests, they instantly became friends. Together they watched movies, played video games, traveled, and went drinking.
"S-so you burned your pancakes, haha, while standing right in front of them." Shin laughed while holding his belly
"Cmon it isn't that funny" Miyake replied as he observed a particular acid and piece of meat under a microscope
"Oh trust me it is" Shin wiped his tears
"Anyways" Miyake got up and started washing his hands "About that show that you plan to strap me to a chair so I can watch it"
"Wait, I never said that. Did I?" Shin looked up stroking his chin
"It sure sounded like it" Miyake grabbed a vial and started inspecting it "How about you sell me on it?"
"Well, I don't know where to start"
"A pretty simple question. What's it about?" He poured a drop of the content inside the vial on a piece of glass
"Well...It's mostly about the conflicts between Topside and the Undercity. While Topside is flourishing the Undercity is decaying." Miyake observed the liquid through a microscope while listening to Shin
"It mostly follows the story of the two sisters and their life in this environment. There is an antagonist but even then I want him to achieve his goal. The true good side doesn't exist, everyone is looking for the most optimal way to achieve their goals."
"That does sound interesting...Fine we'll watch it" He stood up while Shin pumped his fist and a quiet "Yes!" escaped his lips
"Anyways, what is the reason we stayed behind? Everyone is already home" He looked around his eyes stopping at Shin
"The director said that we need to test out a flammable powder"
"Oh great" Miyake rolled his eyes
"Cmon don't be like" Shin crossed his arms "This is important, if we make this a success we might get a promotion"
"I doubt it but let's get started" Miyake put on gloves, a mask, and goggles "I'm guessing we're using the blast room?"
"Yep," Shin put on the necessary protection "Why do you call it the blast room?"
"It's self-explanatory" Miyake walked into the room, Shin shrugged and walked in
"Miyake, what's that weird smell?" He said while holding his nose shut
"Don't know, the light was on when we walked in so I'm guessing it's just a leftover smell from a past experiment. I set up everything so can you light it up?" Miyake handed him the blowtorch as he backed away "But this smell is strong, it seems like someone was eating too many eggs."
"Eggs...Shit! Shin wait, don't lig-" Shin lit the powder and Miyake's voice got suffocated by an explosion.
The explosion at the Hirushin Chemical Lab took the lives of Miyake Masumi (20) and Shin Hiroyuki. (20). The unexpected explosion was caused by a gas leak. The two chemists were testing the burning properties of magnesium, as they set alight the powder the room was engulfed in flames. "It is a great tragedy for our country to have lost such young and bright minds. May their souls rest in peace" writes the head director Yamamoto Teikichi
Even after the publishing of their deaths in the newspaper the two boys still opened their eyes. An unfamiliar man with gray hair greeted them, but they couldn't say anything only cry out in confusion.
