"Well, I don't know. It's a lot of money. I don't have any family around like you, and I just kind of live by myself doing the same old thing but getting nowhere. I'm not exactly in debt, but my life is pretty boring, you know? That kind of money would change my life..."
I looked up at all those stacks of money in the piggy bank.
"I think I'm gonna vote to stay. But, don't get me wrong, I'll be okay if they get cancelled. I'll just go back to my routine as best as I can. I also want everybody else to get the chance to go home who wants it. It would be good if they let the people who want to stay come back, though."
Ali nodded at me and smiled.
"I like your thought process, Ms. Y/N. I do thank you for being okay with me voting differently than you. You're very kind. If we do leave this place, I hope to see you again."
I smiled.
"You as well, Ali."
He opened his arms for me to hug him, so I went closer and wrapped my arms around him in an embrace. Little did I know, somebody was watching me from a place I couldn't see that was slightly angry that Ali was holding me.
...
"As you can see, there are two buttons in front of you. If you wish to continue playing, press the green button with an O. If you wish to stop playing, then please press the red button with the X instead. After you finish voting, move to the other side of the white line and wait. Voting will be done in reverse order of the numbers on your chest. Player 456, please cast your vote."
456 went up to the buttons. His name, I learned, was Gi-Hun, and he was the one that Ali helped at the end. He voted to cancel the games.
One by one, the crowd voted and filtered out to the other side. Since I was a fairly low number, I knew that I was going to wait here for a while.
When 212 went up to cast her vote, she picked to continue, which gave favorite the games a lead by two votes. It was now 52-50. She walked to the other side of the room and somebody started to yell.
"Have you all gone crazy?! We have to leave! We can't keep putting up with this insanity!" 119 shouted.
"So what if we leave?!" 212 asked. "Tell me, what changes? Just as bad out there as it is in here, goddamnit." She scoffed and walked away.
"She's right! If we stop right now, that only helps the ones who are dead. They get a hundred million won and not us! We made it through! They're out! That money is ours!"
"Please! Think about what just happened out there! Come on, let's go!"
"Where am I supposed to go, huh?" The guy, 322, who agreed with 212 said. "Out there, I don't stand a chance. I do in here! No, I've got nothing out there! Come on, let's finish this thing! I'd rather stay and keep on trying in here than go back to the bullshit out there!"
The man from earlier, 119 went up and grabbed 322. He grabbed him by the jacket.
"You jerk! You got some kind of death wish?! Go die alone! Don't drag everyone else into this shit!" He yelled.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Screamed 322.
Suddenly, 119 then had a gun pointed at him by one of the guards. He noticed and stepped back in fear. I don't know why, but just the way that the guard had so much power over him had me feeling some kinda way. He was also pretty tall.
