"Just keep your damn money. I don't care! Let me just go home. That's all I want!" Another man cried. Everyone seemed to agree with him.
"Let us leave! Let us go!"
"Consent form clause one: A player is not allowed to stop playing," square quoted.
"Come on! You think you'll get away with this, huh? The police will come! They'll bust in here any minute now. They'll be here since we all disappeared!"
"Yeah... And I bet they have everybody's phones tracked here already! Look at all your hostages! You're doomed if you don't let us go!"
"We're all dead!"
Before the person finished their sentence, the square guard had enough and took out a gun. He fired it, and everybody fell to the ground in fear, covering themselves. All the people behind him followed his lead and cocked their guns, aiming it at everyone. Square put his gun back up.
"Consent form clause two: A player who refuses to play will be eliminated," square said menacingly.
Then, a formal-looking man stood up beside us and reminded them about a rule that he remembered written in the contract.
"Consent form clause three: If the majority agrees to stop playing, the games are allowed to end... or am I wrong?"
We could vote to end this. Now, I know that it's horrible to not read contracts thoroughly, but come on, I glanced over it because people were waiting behind me. I hate having people hovering over me, so I just looked it over, didn't see anything suspicious, and put my name on it.
The superiors agreed to the man's statement.
"So, let's vote on ending this. If the majority wishes to leave this place, then everyone gets to go home, right?" The man questioned.
"Alright. As you wish. We will take a vote to decide on the termination of the game," Square conceded. "Before we vote, let me announce the prize money for the game as previously promised."
He took out a remote and the lights got dark before golden lights illuminated a piggy bank and some high pitched music played. Everyone looked up at all of the money falling into the piggy bank. They were all drawn in. I'm sure that turned a few no votes into yeses. It definitely was a lot of money that was in there. It stopped, and the square spoke.
"A total of 255 players were eliminated during the first game. A hundred million won is at stake per player. Therefore, 25.5 billion won of prize money has been accumulated so far. If you wish to give up on playing, the 25.5 billion won will be sent to the bereaved families of the late players. 100 million won each. However, you will all return home empty handed."
"Uh... sir?" The original begger asked. "So then, if we can complete all six games, how much do we get?"
I already did the math in my head because I'm like that, but apparently she was too slow.
"Since there were 456 players, the total prize money is 45.6 billion won. And with that, we will now begin the voting."
They got two workers to go and retrieve something unknown to the players, so we just had to sit there while that happened. A lot of people were whispering to each other. I looked at Ali.
"Hey, Ali," I said. He looked at me. "I know it's impolite to ask people what they're going to vote, well, in America at least, but do you know what you're going to do?"
He looked at the prize money.
"I... I don't know, Ms. Y/N. I don't think any amount of money is worth the death of others. I also need to think about the people waiting for me in the real world... so I think that I will vote 'No'. What about you, Ms. Y/N?"
