"What?!" Sam whips around to stare at Bad.

"I'm just saying, I feel bad for Dream that we do this to him every day."

"It's the only way to keep him scared," Sam says. "If he's scared, he'll stay in."

"Sam this is very backward," Y/N says. "You're making Dream hate it here more than he already does, that means he'll want to get out and once he does, you're basically putting a target on your back. If we can try to make his life slightly better in here, maybe he'll be less prone to escaping."

The room grows quiet.

She's right.

"You're right," Sam finally says, and Bad nods in approval.

Ant stays quiet but is secretly agreeing.

"How can we turn this around?" he asks.

"First let's give him free roam of the cell, leave his care to me, I think I can get him to trust me, and finally, let him out of the cell once a month for cleaning."

The guards agree and they go down to Dream's cell. Making their way over the lava bridge and into Dream's cell. He glares at them angrily with blood dripping down his face but says nothing.

Sam gestures behind him and Bad and Ant duck under the chains to go behind Dream. Once they're clasped his wrists tightly. Sam and Y/N unlock the chains from the wall letting Dream's arms fall to the ground for the first time in weeks. He groans but instantly, Bad and Ant are holding his wrists behind him as Sam chains them behind. They also attach a collar with a chain. All his chains now go to the small metal plate in the middle of the cell.

The guards leave, and Dream is left contemplating what just happened.

Did they just...? How did Y/N convince them?

As the guards separate to go back to their work,
Y/N walks back to the cell holding Dream's food.

That was definitely manipulation. I had to. Although manipulation is bad, it was for a good reason. What does that make it then? Bad actions for a good reason?

She drinks fire resistance and swims straight through. She lands on the obsidian in front of Dream and he screams at the sight.

The fire engulfs her but slowly dies down as they stare at each other.

"Hey Dream," she says.

"Why did you do that?" he asks shaking slightly.

"Didn't feel like lowering the lava. Anyways how are your chains?"

"Still on. At least I'm not being forced to stand at least."

She smiles and walks closer to him which makes him back up.

"I did a little talking with the rest of the guards," she continues forward.

"Okay." His eyes go to her sword which still hangs from the belt.

"I brought up some interesting points that convince them to stop being so harsh. They're now going to do mostly patrolling whereas I'm the one caring for you. I also asked to give you some things that might make life here less harsh."

"Care for me falls under what?" he asks with a slight smirk.

She lets out a light laugh.

"You'll find out," she continues moving forward until Dream is against the wall. They're only a few feet apart.

"Why are you so scared huh?"

"I don't know, maybe the fact that you could kill me at any moment."

"So you don't trust me?" She sits down in front of him.

He sighs. "No"

They sit in silence for a while, watching the lava fall.

"What did you say to them?" Dream asks after a bit.

She grimaces.

"It'll make me seem like a double agent honestly."

"Just tell me."

Y/N takes a deep breath.

"I told them that if they make it worse for you in here, they increase your chances of escaping and targeting them once you're out. And that by making your life better in here, you might want to stay."

His mouth drops open and he stares at her.

"You manipulated them."

"Technically yes. I do feel a bit bad. But did it because I cared what happens to you."

She smiles and moves closer to him and leans over him, bracing herself against the wall.

Their chests are only inches apart. His face, terrified, looks up at her confident one.

"That's what makes us alike," she whispers.
