this plays off when haze was pretty much a child, living with her little brother, mist. and her father, darkness.

"come on!! let's go playyy, you never wanna play with meee..." haze is whining to her father, "why do you never wanna play with meeee??" she tugs his clothes. "i have business to take care of, haze. go play with your brother." he says, before lightly pushing her away. "but it's not fun to play with mist!! he always begins crying when the ball comes at him." haze pouts. "that's not my problem." her father says, before sending her off sternly.
"stupid dad, stupid- i don't wanna play with mist!!" she begins talking to herself, "he's just gonna cry, and then i'm gonna get grounded for making him cry! it's not fair!! stupid little siblings are the worst!!" she pauses, staring at the open exit door. ".. i could play by myself, though.." she says to herself, fully excited now, and ready to run into the woods. she pushes the door a bit, before running to the trees at full speed.
she almost ran into a tree, before pausing and looking at it. she finds a stable branch, and steps on it, and stepping on another, and another, before eventually reaching the top of the tree. she stares down at the world around her, never having been more excited than this. her bright blue eyes shimmered as she saw how small everything seemed, and how insignificant it felt. she wanted to feel this way more often. those big walls of the castle always felt like a prison, she rarely got to feel as free as she did right now.
she hops from one tree to another, and almost falls while going over to the next. if her father found her right now, she'd be in so much trouble. but she's sneaky, she won't let him find her. it's like hide and seek, but more exciting!
while stepping over to another tree, it felt like her movement was stopped for a second. like a game that'd been put on pause. then she sees a red shimmer in the corner of her eye, it catches her attention faster than it should've, nevertheless, she hops down and follows the light.
once the light ends, she's greeted by a red, shiny, triangle. it's partially floating in the air, and spinning every now and then. "dad never told me about anything like this.." she mutters to herself, "why wouldn't he though?" she kneels down, looking at the three sided shape. she decides to touch it, as every kid would. before she knew it, it had disappeared. "huh?? hey!! where'd you go??" she shouts, not worrying about her having to be secretive. the light appears again somewhere further away, she runs back up to it. she touches it again, and it's gone again.
this keeps going for so long, so much so that it already turned nighttime, and she had likely missed dinner and lunch. but she was determined to find this thing again, to understand it. she heaved and panted as she found the light again, and touched the triangle once again. this time, instead of disappearing, it got closer. it got so close, it touched her chest. it felt weird, warm, comforting even. she hugged it closer to herself, feeling it's warmth and smiling at it.
then, the triangle decided it didn't like this anymore, and floated backwards out of the hug. she stared at it curiously, before it flew quickly at her. she shrieked in shock, and tried to push it away, but it just stayed there. it sat in front of her left eye. why? she wasn't sure.
it spinned, and rotated, before one of the pointy sides was directed foward, and towards her eye. it got closer, piercing into her eye. those points were sharp, very sharp. before she could even know what was going on, she was bleeding. she shrieked, shouted and sobbed. her vision being cut in half, and the left eye being permanently blinded. the triangle retracts itself, the eye still being stuck to it. she flinched as she saw what used to be her left eye drop onto the floor, blood splatters following along.
she watches tears drop from her right eye, and blood dropping from the other. her arms and legs begin trembling, and her head feels light. right at that moment, the triangle blocks the empty eye socket, blocking the bleeding from going anywhere. and that- worked, i guess. she didn't pass out, at least. she hoisted herself up, gaining balance. she decided she was done playing for today. maybe more than one day.
she's gonna have to explain a lot when she gets home.
