When Arjuna reached home with Draupadi and his brothers, Kunti unknowingly ordered them to divide it equally whatever they had brought. Realizing that all the brothers had mutual attraction towards Draupadi's beauty, and obeying mother's as well as Vyasa's order, Yudhishthira decided to make Draupadi their common wife.

Pandavas were given a barren land called Khandavaprastha to rule. They turned it into a flourished Indraprastha. Yudhishthira became the ruler of this newly built city while Draupadi became the chief Queen. During the happy years of Indraprastha, she gave birth to her five sons. After the four Pandavas conquered entire Bharatavarsha and performed Rajasuya, Draupadi became the Empress of this country with Yudhishthira the Emperor.

The Kauravas challenged Yudhishthira in a dice game where Shakuni cheated a novice player. Yudhishthira gambled away everything including Indraprastha, his brothers, himself and finaly Draupadi. The Empress was dragged to the court by her hair and humiliated by name calling and attempt of disrobing. Her honour was saved by divine intervention. She stood undefeated during the worst phase of her life and rescued her enslaved husbands by her wisdom.
