Origins (Lavender's story)

Chapter 1: Awakened

10 years after the Metal Virus plagued Mobius...

Everything around her was fuzzy and muffled. Voices speaking about something, but too unintelligible for her to hear. Her brain felt fuzzy too, not allowing her to think straight. She laid there a moment, waiting for things to clear. Slowly she could feel her senses coming to full capacity. 

"She's awake." On voice appeared to belong to a woman

"You think I don't know that?" The second voice was a male.

"Just shut your mouth and let her get out." The woman said. Her eyes began to adjust, allowing her to see what was in front of her. A hedgehog with mint green quills and a completely red outfit. 

"My dear," the woman's smile wasn't a happy one. It was full of greed. "You're finally awake. It appears the good doctor did his job to completion."

"Where am I?" she sat up, rubbing her eyes, "Actually, who am I?"

"Your name is Lavender." the woman looked her up and down, then turned to the wolf behind her. "It seems you did well, Doctor. Her vitals are steady, she speaks well. Now all that's left is to test her powers. I say take off the inhibitor rings."

"Inhibitor rings?" Lavender asked.

"I don't think that we should do that." the wolf replied, getting out of his leather chair and standing up. "I put them on her for a reason. Her powers are strong and uncontrollable. She must master them. Only then will I allow occasional removal of the rings as well as a chance at destroying sonic."

"Sonic?" Lavender echoed. Her cheeks flushed as she realized she was becoming a bit of an echo. 

"Sonic the Hedgehog." the woman replied, smiling slyly. "Someone with whom I go way back.  And I want you to get rid of him." she reached a hand over and stroked the side of Lavender's face, making her back away uncomfortably. "You will be my masterpiece. My weapon. You will help me get rid of Eggman and the blue nuisance forever."

"It seems you've been harboring this desire for revenge longer than I thought." the Doctor mused.

"You want revenge just as much as I do." the mint green hedgehog turned to face the doctor, eyes blazing. "Or do you want to let your family's deaths go unpunished?"

"Of course I desire revenge." the doctor snapped. "But I am willing to wait if it means that I will succeed. You have a thirst not only for revenge, but for power. Don't think for a second I haven't seen the small empire you've created for yourself. An economic empire, but an empire all the same. Your desires cloud your judgement."

"Do they?" she asked sharply. "Or has my ambition outgrown yours?"

"Your ambition has outgrown mine from the beginning." the doctor replied. "I am agreeing to help you in exchange for revenge I could easily implement myself. I want to make the blue nuisance suffer just as much as you. Him and his pesky friends. But I could have easily done it myself, however, your resources will definitely make this a lot easier."

"Yes." she smiled evilly. "Fine, I will leave you to train our little friend here. But I want her in the field as soon as possible. I want Sonic, his pesky friends, and that Doctor Eggman out of the picture as soon as possible."

"I will take as long as I need, Breezie." the doctor replied stiffly. "Now leave, before I kick you out."

"Fine." the woman's smile disappeared and turned threatening before she walked out of the bunker. Lavender simply sat there a moment, watching the doctor. He slumped into his chair, taking off his glasses and rubbing his eyes. A moment passed and he looked up, realizing she was there. A sigh escaped.
