Right when Jade said that, I had to sneeze. Of fucking course. I tap Jade and she looks at me through the rearview mirror. She raises an eyebrow as if to say, "What is it?," and I raise my elbow up to my nose, miming a sneeze. She shakes her head and smirks. What a douche!
I press the back of my hand to my nose and hold back my sneeze the best I can. Moe taps me and when I look over, I see her recording me. I hit her thigh with my fist repeatedly. Not hard enough to hurt, but hard enough to get a reaction. She frowns and furrows her brows, trying to smack my hand away. I stop once the feeling of needing to sneeze goes away.
Layton and Alicia shake their heads at us and look at their phones. But then, out of absolutely nowhere.
The biggest sneeze exits my body. I put my head down on my lap, realizing that I've lost. "Bless you!," everyone shouts together. "I'm gonna jump out of the fucking car," I say, though it's mumbled. "Haha! You've gotta sing for us now!," Jade shouts. " I swear to god, I'll crawl over Layton and jump out." "You'd take me with you, dumbass," he comments. "Yeah, no shit. You act like my goal, everytime I do something, isn't to harm and or kill you, bestie." "Pfft- bestie," Jade mocks. "Yes. And?" "You're supposed to be singing," Alicia says. "Yeah, yeah."
"It's outta my character for me to want more than we have, What's this all about?, I'm losing my sanity, You have no clue, And I'm so afraid for you to find out, 'Cause you're too important, And if I lose you for it, Well, that's not very ideal, And what'll you think of me?, If I decide that it'd be too hard to keep to myself, 'Cause honestly, I would be losing my mind if I were to see you with someone else, 'Cause you're too important, And I'd still lose you for it, Yeah, don't know how I'd deal."
I cannot believe I just sang that with him in the car. What the fuck is wrong with me. Well, I mean... Nah, it's fine. No one's gonna know. They'll know I like someone but none of them will know who. Or...but what if they do? Ah, Moe definitely knows. Oh my god, she knows. She knows! She most definitely knows.
"Oh my gosh, that was pretty," Alicia compliments. "Thank you, thank you! I'm never doing that again." "Was that one of your originals?," Moe asks. "Mhmm! Sure was." "Ooh, who was it about," she asks, poking me. "Oh, look! We're here!," I laugh as Jade parks the car.
Wednesday - Late Night Carpool Karaoke
I pop my eyes open when my ringtone blasts throughout my room.
"Oh my god," I mumble when I see Fay's contact pop up. I answer the phone and put it on speaker, laying my head back down and closing my eyes. "Marie, we're outside." "One, why, two, who is 'we,'?" "Me, Moe, Jade and Alicia." "Ugh, you're so lucky I love you crackheads. I swear if you were anyone else, I'd go back to sleep." "We get it, you're a simp," Jade calls, "Get your ass down here!" "Bring your ukulele too!," Alicia adds. "Whatever."
I pull on a hoodie and some sweatpants over my shorts, and grab my ukulele and small bag. I run out of my house and to my friend's car.
"Why are we doing this at 2 in the morning when we have school tomorrow?," I ask as I climb into the passenger seat. "Because tomorrow is a half day and we don't have to be there until 7:30." "...That did not answer my question but okay." "Shush, we let you have the passenger seat," Alicia says. "Because I can't play my ukulele if I'm smooshed against you guys," I rebuttal. "...Can't you just accept that we appreciate you?," Jade asks. "No, not even a little."
