Intro

Monday - 3rd Period

My head shoots up as the bell for 2nd period dismissal rings.

"Ha, you fell asleep again!," Daniel teases as I shuffle to shove my notebook and pens into my bag. "Shut up!," I exclaim. "It's not his fault that you're trying to end up on the slumped Insta page," Ashley jokes. "Fuck you guys," I mumble as we walk toward the performing arts hallway.

"You know, you wouldn't have such a hard time staying awake in class if you didn't stay up all night. It'd probably help your posture, too," Daniel suggests. "You know what? Shut up, Danny." "My bad," he says, throwing his hands up in surrender. "Come on, you know he's just kidding," Ashley laughs, opening the door to the choir room. "Whatever," I huff. "Bye, Danny," Ash and I say as he splits off from us and heads to the theater room.

"I think I need to start-" Jade pauses when she notices me. "Marie!," she exclaims. "Jade!" "I run towards her and hug her. "Dude, give your girlfriend some coffee! She fell asleep in second." "Again?," Jade asks, pulling her portable coffee mug out of her bag. "Heh, yeah. It's not my fault! School is so tiring. This is the best class. Well, this one and next period," I state, grabbing the mug from my friend. "If this is the best class because I'm in it, then who's the reason you like next period?," Jade jokes.

I pop open the top and drink some coffee before humming, "Mmm! That's info you don't need." "Ooh, so there is someone?" "Of course there is," Moe butts in. I give her a 'seriously?' look and she shrugs, smiling. Alicia laughs, smacking Moe before asking her what she knows. "She may or may not have a crush on one of our friends. Who knows?" I roll my eyes. "You are the worst best friend in the history of bad best friends," I say, taking another sip of the coffee. "Sorry not sorry!" "Fuck off, M. Starting rumors and shit." All of my friends burst out laughing. "Yeah, right! We're gonna believe that she has a crush on someone who's not Jade? Yeah, okay, that totally checks out," Fay laughs, causing Alicia to snort.

My eyes widen and we all laugh at her, causing her to pout but eventually join in our laughter.

"Ladies! We're going to do a few warm-ups and then we're going to discuss upcoming events," Mrs. Workman states, walking out of her office. "Any suggestions?," our choir director asks as she walks towards her piano.

---10 Minutes Later---

"Alright, have a seat, everyone. First, we need to discuss sign-up for the homecoming float!" Just as she says this, Layton walks in, holding a pink pass. "Just in time, Lay!," Jade exclaims. "Yeah, just in time to get roasted! Don't touch my wife," I joke as he reaches his hand out to dap her up. "Not you being possessive," Fay laughs. "Shush, mine." "Okay, Smeagol," Layton says, causing Jade to choke on her coffee. The Altos and Sopranos near us all burst into laughter and Mrs. Workman stares at us, clearly trying not to laugh.

"Okay! So, the first meeting for the float is tomorrow at Alanna's and the sign up sheets are on the board by the calendar! I'm gonna give everyone a second to sign up for which meetings you'll be going to and then we're gonna talk about Fright Night!" She plays a little tune on the piano as some people go to sign up. "So, are you guys going to help?," Alicia asks us. "I know I am."

"We're choir officers, we have to be there," Jade states, pointing between her and Layton. "I'm not, but Alice is," Fay says, pointing to her twin on the other side of the room. "I am for sure," Moe says. "I can't, I'm helping with the Homecoming float. So is Danny since we're both on StuCo," Ashley states. "Boo! You," I cup my hands around my mouth and whisper, "whore!" Moe smacks me, laughing at my actions. "What about you, Marie?" "I have to ask my aunt if she's cool with that because she's my ride everywhere. I'm gonna sign up anyway, though." "Your aunt's gonna kill you if you tell her you already signed up," Alicia says. I look over at her, "No shit, that's why I'll tell her after she says yes." "Maries gonna get decapitated," Jade laughs, pulling me into a hug.
