Lola took her phone to the bed and turned it on. She had no missed calls. It had been two weeks since she fought with Demilade. Aside from that night and the next morning that he called and text her she had refused to answer his call because she was angry, and he hadn't called again.
She was still angry at him. It hurt her that he wouldn't even consider her feelings. She told him something that she had been holding in for two months. But he wasn't ready to take any action because of the money he had spent.
Demilade had been talking about a certain particular contract with some wealthy family and their daughter had been the one handling the business. He always talked about it - the name, the kind of connection it will give him, and what the contract was worth. And she was fine with it. It was his work. Something he took pride in. He hardly talked about the essential things in his work. But since he proposed, he began to open up more to things. His work included. And she was happy to listen to him.
But she couldn't say the same when it comes to a particular name she began to hear more often.
Augustina 'Tina' Thompson.
That name had been the most called in their conversation. It was either a meeting with her. A conference call with her and her board members or one thing or the other. She tried pretending she wasn't getting affected by her fiancé's obsession with the lady and the contract. She even started suspecting they were having a relationship.
The suspicion went away when she met her at a party hosted by her family. She realized it was pure business for her family but not her. She could tell that Tina want Demilade and she wasn't discreet about it.
She doesn't know if Demilade was stupid or blind not to notice it or if he was just pretending that he didn't notice it. She tried telling him but he told her it was nothing that she was just being paranoid or probably because she didn't like her as a person.
The lady had clearly told her that she doesn't like her and she wasn't the kind of person that Demilade should be getting married to.
Bayo and Charles had defended her. She was told that she was his fiancée and she need to respect that. And she reluctantly did.
She had tried enduring it but it was getting hard to bear until she finally told him her mind that weekend.
Demilade wasn't making it easy either.
But she missed her fiancé. It has been two weeks and she hadn't spoken with him or seen him. She knew he was also mad at her. She admitted that she went quite overboard. But it was because her feelings were speaking louder than her head. She shouldn't have accused him of such things.
She saw the look of hurt on his face when she told him she believed he could cheat on her for a contract. She shouldn't have said such a thing. She was angry and she wanted to hear what he will say. She wanted him to feel what she was feeling and also to understand what she was feeling. But it seems she went too far. She just hurt his feelings. He tried to let it go and tried appeasing her but her insecurity had ruined everything.
He already told her that he wasn't cheating on her and it was a pure work relationship with Tina but she didn't believe him.
She should have. It was wrong to accuse him and give him conditions.
There was also the fact that she told him she don't trust him and didn't care about his work.
It was all a lie. She cared. She just doesn't care about the contract with Tina. It is the reason they are fighting now. It is the reason why she doubted her fiancé and the reason she was insecure. She sees Tina as a threat to her and she hates it. But she had said she does not care about his work. Generalizing it makes it wrong. She did care about his work and she does want him to continue being successful.
