"Wine lovers," Demilade answered with a smile. Lola gave him a look that clearly said she don't understand him. "There's a difference between a year-old wine and a hundred-year-old wine. The difference is obvious. And it is in the taste. Nothing tastes better than a wine that had been kept for years. With time you will get what I mean."
Lola rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Do you want to open it or do you still want to keep it for more years?"
He rolled his eyes and said. "Give it to me." And she did, handing the bottle to him. He used a wine opener on the table to open the wine bottle. "This is to celebrate your birthday. Cheers to you Love." He winked. Lola flushed, picking up an empty wine cup.
"Thanks, hun." She winked back and Demilade helped poured some for her in an empty wine glass and another for himself.
"A pleasure," Demilade answered and she stirred the cup before taking a sip from the wine. "It.. tastes a bit different. There is... it's sweeter in a kind of way."
"I told you," Demilade said sipping from his. He dropped his wine cup and took an empty small plate. He cut out the cake on the turntable in a small triangular shape with a knife. "You want some?"
"Isn't that too sugary?" She asked as she poured herself another glass of wine.
"A little, I bought it as dessert."
"Sweet mouth. I will have small sha." He handed her the plate of cake and cut another one for himself.
They ate their cake making small conversation.
Later on, Demilade bend to his side and took something from the ground. He brought it up above the table and he handed the wrapped box to Lola. She quirk a brow at him as she took the gift.
"What is this again?" She asked with a teasing smile.
"Don't you think you should open it first?" He said taking from his glass of wine.
She dropped the box on the table and faced him directly.
"You should tell me what gift is this." She told him. "You've spoiled me with gifts today. So I want to know what this one is too."
"Let's say... it is my last gift for today," Demilade answered with a grin. He took the last piece of cake from his plate with his fork.
The corner of her lips tugs to a small smile. She nodded and she unwrapped the gift. Inside the box is another wrapped box but smaller than the main one by a little inch. She chuckled lightly and she opened it and there was a similar box of the same wrapper with less size in the box. She raised her head and looked at Demilade that was busy staring at her with his wine cup in his hand.
"Are we playing a game here?"
"Not really. But it isn't so bad if we make it a bit funny, is it?" Demilade asked with a smirk.
Lola narrowed her eyes at him, trying to find any form of answer on his face. But there was nothing. His face gave out nothing.
She groaned and looked away. Demilade is still hard to read whenever he wants to be.
"What if I don't play along?"
Demilade laughed. "Well, I doubt you will do that."
"Proud ass." She muttered seeing the smirk on his face. She knew he was right. She never backs out in a challenging game like that and her curiosity always takes the best of her.
She opened the next box and there is another smaller box in it. It goes on until the box becomes smaller.
"Don't you think this is a waste of box and wrapper?" Demilade shrugged without answering her.
She opened the last box and she found a very smaller box and she chuckled at how little it was. She also wondered how he got to wrap a small box of that size.
