She used the elevator to the lobby and reception, then she came out of the five-star hotel that belong to her boyfriend where she had lounged since the previous evening they arrived at Abuja.
The outside of the building was quite busy despite the time, and people were walking in and out of the building at her back. Cars drove out and in from the gate at some distance from her.
She inhaled the fresh night air. It was better and a change from the cold air from the air conditioner in the room and the building as a whole. Her attention was drawn by the man waving at her some feet away from her. And that was when she noticed the new black Mercedes Benz parked directly in front of the building at the end of the stairs that go up onto the terrace that leads into the hotel lobby where she was standing.
The driver of the car had been the one waving at her. He was standing at the side of the car with a key holder on his index finger.
She walked over to meet him and she apologized.
"Sorry." She apologized to him when she finally got close to him, where he had stopped waving but was rolling his key holder on his finger. She noticed that she had never seen him before.
He shook his head. "It's no problem. Good evening Miss Lola right?" He greeted and asked.
Lola nodded. "Yes, I am. Good evening."
He bowed slightly. "I'm Gideon, I was asked by Mr. Demilade to pick you up."
"Okay." She replied and the driver opened the backseat door. She muttered thanks and entered the car while he helped close the door after her. She watched him turn around to the other side of the car and he opened the door, entered, and started the car.
Then he drove out of the hotel unto the highway.
About an hour and a half later, they got to their destination. At first, she seem a little disturbed because the driver was unusually quiet despite she was trying to make a little conversation with him. And they'd been driving for some time. But when Demilade called her on their way, she becomes rest assured that everything was fine.
They finally got to their destination and the car stopped.
It was parked in front of a restaurant lit beautifully on the outside.
The driver stepped out of the car while she was still taking in the beauty of the building in front of her. He came to open the door for her which surprised Lola herself. She turned away from the sight, appreciated the man, and stepped down from the car.
She strides toward the front step of the building, hanging her bag properly on her right shoulder while she stared at the facade.
The place was big and well-lit. It almost seems like a day outside with the bright lights of the building and the lights from the neighboring buildings with streetlights.
The building was looking new and the facade was made of glass. But it was hard to see what was inside since the inside of the building was dark. The short steps at the entrance were made of black shiny marble and it was polished and neat. There were big pots of artificial flowers lined in front of the glass wall and at the two sides of the door. Above the building was the name Minna's Eatery decorated and lit boldly with neon.
The name seems familiar to her and then it clicked. It was one of a kind, top ten of the most expensive and beautiful eatery in Abuja. It has only one branch in Lagos and the main branch was in Abuja.
So was she staring at the popular Minna's Restaurant.
Whoah! Demilade always prove how wealthy he was. She thought with a small smile.
