My smirk fell as I felt my face turn red like a tomato. His reply caught me off-guard and he was fully aware of it. Damn, I forgot how much effect he has on me too.
"Respeto naman po sa walang jowa eh noh?" Marem went back to her seat and pouted.
It was Daniel's turn to smirk. He slowly stood up and looked down on me making me feel so small. He was so tall that I had to look up at him.
Parang yung height ko ata nasa bandang leeg lang niya.
"Why are you not saying anything, Love?" He lowered his face so that it was right in front of mine. I could feel his warm breath, bringing a tingling feeling in my body.
"Ngayong ka lang ba nakakita ng ganito ka gwapong prinsipe?"
I didn't even notice him walking closer to me. Now our faces were just millimeters apart. I looked down and stared at his lips. It was so tempting.
"Gusto mo ba akong halikan?" Bulong niya sa akin.
"Ehem ehem, paalala lang po nasa club tayo at maraming taong nakatingin," Patawang sinabi ni Tim.
Dahil dito ay inilayo ni Dan ang mukha niya sa akin. He still wore a smirk on his face and crossed his arms on his chest.
I looked away in embarassment and tried to get a hold of myself. I didn't dare hold an eye contact with him knowing how it will weaken my knees.
"Can we talk?" My voice came out to be a whisper.
I was waiting for an answer but none came. I slowly looked at him only to find him staring at me with a look that brought butterflies in my stomach.
"So?" I waited for him to speak.
Ang kaninang naiinggit na si Marem ay nasa kabilang lamesa na at nakikipag-usap sa isang grupo ng mga babae. Si Tim naman ay hindi ko na makita.
I guess this leaves the two of us alone.
"I never thought you'd want to talk to me again," A slight look of pain flashed on his face before it was replaced by joy.
"I'm all yours tonight, Amaris."
Pinigilan ko ang sariling ngumiti at naglakad papalabas ng club para makapag-usap kami ng maayos. Masyado kasing maingay sa loob.
Sumunod naman si Daniel sa akin hanggang sa nakatayo na kami sa labas. Tiningnan ko ang kalangitan kung uulan na naman ba kagaya dati. Mabuti at maganda ang panahon ngayon.
Silence.
None of us spoke as we just stood there staring at random things. It was not an awkward moment for the both of us. It just felt like we were contented with what we had.
"Kaya kita gustong makausap ay dahil..." Humarap ako sa kaniya, "pagod na akong tumakbo at magtago mula sa'yo."
Pinakinggan niya lang ako at hinintay na magpatuloy sa pagsasalita.
"Noong una ay itinulak kita papalayo dahil natatakot ako. Takot akong maulit muli ang nangyari noon, at maiwan na naman ang puso kong durog na durog. My parents haven't changed that much since you last talked to them, Dan."
He took a step closer to me and spoke, "Don't be scared, Mari."
"I promise you that it will be different this time. I'm serious about you and I'm willing to take the risk. Handa akong harapin ang kahit sino para lang maging akin ka Amaris."
Hindi man halata sa aking mukha pero nararamdaman ko ang pag-init ng aking pisngi.
"This time I will fight by your side, Dan."
He took my hands into his and held them softly. His touch surprisingly calmed me.
"Amaris Jian Delos Reyes...pwede ba kitang ligawan?"
Bago pa man ako makapag-isip ng maayos ay tumango na pala ako. Sa sobrang saya ay niyakap ako ng mahigpit ni Dan.
It feels surreal. Is this just a dream like the one I had this morning?
"It's not," Dan chuckled, still hugging me.
I bit my lip and buried my face in his chest in embarassment. I didn't notice that I said it out loud.
We broke the hug after a minute and continued to stare at each other.
"Dan," Tawag ko sa kaniya.
"Hmm?"
"Pumapayag ako na ligawan mo ako sa isang kondisyon."
He placed his hands inside his pocket and looked at me questioningly.
"Sige, ano ba ang kondisyon na 'yan?"
I sighed and looked at him seriously. I didn't want to repeat the same mistake like before. We had to play it safe.
"Ligawan mo rin ang mga magulang ko."
Kinabahan ako nang hindi siya nagsalita. Hindi ko rin masabi kung ano ang reaksyon niya sa sinabi ko.
"Huwag kang mag-alala, Amaris," Simula niya. "Makukuha ko ang tiwala ng mga magulang mo."
Napangiti ako sa sinabi niya. It was all I could ask for.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your 'bebe time' but we really have to go. Kanina pa sumusuka si Yna, Mari."
Lumapit sa amin si Lia para sunduin na ako.
Poor Yna, she had to get this drunk just to get rid of the pain.
I turned to look at Dan and gave him a small nod.
"Mauna na kami, Dan."
Susunod na sana ako kay Lia na siyang nauna nang maglakad pabalik sa loob nang biglang hinawakan ni Dan ang aking kamay.
"Wait, you forgot something."
He closed the gap between us and leaned in. Seeing him closing the gap between us made me close my eyes too. I was waiting for his lips to touch mine when I felt it land on my forehead instead. Now it made me look like a fool as I was expecting him to kiss me.
'Well he did kiss you Amaris...just on your forehead though.'
I slowly opened my eyes only to meet his which stared at me deeply. His eyes mesmerized me and made me feel like I was getting lost in it.
"Tsaka na kita hahalikan sa labi kapag sinagot mo na ako." He caressed my left cheek. "Goodnight, my love."
I gazed in his eyes, falling harder.
"Goodnight."
In the end it has to be yourself who makes the final decision.
A decision that isn't for anyone else but you.
A decision to choose my own happiness.
