As someone, who's never played an instrument in their life, I think that it's not the end of the world if you decide to quit. Don't get me wrong, playing an instrument is an amazing skill to have, but there's nothing wrong with not wanting to continue playing in your later years.
I understand where you're father's coming from, but his attitude is very harmful, since no one should force their child to do something they don't enjoy. He should respect your choices, it's your life after all.
I've personally never been in a similar situation, but a lot of my friends did.
Based on their situations, I think that quitting is the best choice you can make. After all, if later on you regret it, you can always go back to playing the piano again.
