"Fine," she huffs, looking around. "I'm texting with Carson."
"Wait, Carson, as in Carson Hall?"
"Um, yeah? What other Carson do we know?"
"You've got to be kidding me, right? You're seriously texting that slimy asshole."
"He's not all that bad, we have a class together and he's been kinda chill."
"What the hell Grace? He's caused nothing but trouble for me since he's been back."
"Only because he and Lucas just can't get along."
"Oh my God. I can't talk about this right now or I'll lose it," I snap, turning to walk to the grass where the rest of our friends are hanging out, Lucas lying on his back on the grass.
"Hey, are you okay?" he questions me as he props himself up on his elbow, his other hand grabbing my left calf, just above my boot, before I can walk past him. He's dressed in his marine green short sleeve t-shirt that has a v-neckline he has paired with his dark blue washed pair of bootcut denim jeans. His feet are inside his go-to boots and his eyes are hidden behind his pair of sleek metal black square aviators that have a bar across the top of frame and the gray lenses.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I smile, hoping he'll believe me while he rubs his thumb over my leg.
"Okay," he smiles back as he lets go of my leg.
"Can I talk to Savannah for a second Owen?" I ask him after I walk over to where they're sitting by themselves on Tessa's matching loveseat and chair set with acacia wood framing that has gray back and seat cushions and a rectangular table in-between them that has been moved onto the grass under the shade of a tree to make more room on the porch for drinks and food.
"Uh, sure," he says, getting up after quickly kissing Savannah.
"What the hell Savannah?" I whisper while I sit in the now empty seat next to her.
"What are you on about?" she asks. She is wearing her white acid washed short dolman sleeve denim utility romper which has a v-neckline, rolled cuffs, chest pockets, hip pockets and a trapunto stitch detail on the thick self-tie belt along the waistline that she's paired with her beige pair of wedge sneakers with two-and a-quarter inch hidden heels as well as one-inch platforms. She's left her hair down and straight while her gold hammered oval hoops are peeking through the strand, her sleek metal oversized black aviators which have gray gradient lenses hiding her eyes.
"Oh, don't tell me you don't know about Grace's newest friend. Y'all spend a lot of time together because of the boys."
"You've still lost me."
"She's talking to Carson."
"Wait, what? Carson Hall?"
"Yeah. Apparently, they have a class together and they exchanged numbers."
"Why would she be talking to him?"
"I don't know, your guess is as good as mine."
"I'm so confused. That doesn't make any sense."
"Yeah, I know, especially the hell he's raised for Lucas and I since he's been back."
"What exactly happened last weekend?"
"He basically said he wants or at least wanted to have sex with me before he made a disgusting comment about my body so Lucas obviously lost his shit and they fought."
"Maybe if you told her that, she'd stop talking to him."
"I shouldn't have to give details like that for her not to talk to Carson, I mean, this is Carson we're talking about," I sigh, turning my head to look over at Grace who is on her phone yet again.
