There are three rules.
01 - This book is mature. There is a lot of violence, and an arc surrounding sexual assault. There is one steamyish scene.
02 - This book IS a prequel, but it DOES stand alone. You don't need to have read anything prior for this to make sense, but the recommended order of the series would start with Venture to Uncertainty.
03 - This book follows antiheroes. They're evil. You're not necessarily supposed to like them or agree with them, but you are supposed to understand why they do the things they do.
