her father constantly packed up his things and moved from state to state, taking his daughter with him.
each time, cherry was careful about making new friends, or getting too attached.
she'd just end up leaving, anyways.
but, texas seemed to have stuck.
though the girl could never imagine she'd like living in texas, she really did.
she liked the people.
so far.
cherry ran through the halls, red hair finally settling onto her shoulders when she stopped on the grass.
"just in time." bella said, giving her a reassuring smile.
cherry smiled back, quickly catching the pom poms bella threw at her.
the group began their cheer, but stopped abruptly.
"why am i the only one cheering?" bella asked.
"because we're gonna lose." sophie said bluntly.
"no we won't! coach knows this is the perfect time for a play action pass." bella explained.
cherry agreed, starting a small conversation with her about football while waiting for the game to continue.
"i didn't think you of all people would like football." bella said.
cherry blinked.
"why?" she asked.
she already knew the answer.
"well, you don't seem like you like to get dirty." bella shrugged.
"oh." cherry said.
she had made a lot of comments about how unclean the school was. she was waiting for a misogynistic comment, but it had never came.
she returned her focus back onto the game.
"wow, this school's team sucks." cherry cringed, as they lost.
her gloss-covered lips turned into a frown, clearly unimpressed.
she immediately reached for her pearl necklace, toying with it as she watched bella pick up the football.
