Living life up on a cloud?
Laughing loud and drinking wine
From twinkling goblets made of gold
To match the set on which you dine
The bronze engravings standing bold.
Do you, do you think of me?
In your castle by the sea?
I loved you back in high school, true,
First kiss, first love, drove me to tears.
I know you loved me, I loved you
But it's been many, many years.
Did you, did you love again?
If so, who? And where? And when?
Maybe ours was puppy love,
And we believed it right and true.
But when push turned into shove
I ran away, away from you.
Curse you, curse you, for letting me go.
But I forgive you, I want you to know.
Love was a drug, and it played with our minds
As we sucked it all up, grabbed all we could take
But now I'm thinking life left me behind,
Did I screw up, did I make a mistake?
Was it, was it all my own fault?
Should I have stopped running and come to a halt?
Despite what I said when you voted for peace,
It's my fault we crashed and for that I will serve.
And because of me our relationship ceased.
And I lost a great love, one I didn't deserve.
