"Excellent," Tech agreed, clasping his hands together before shuffling back under the console. He limply held out his datapad to you, "You'll be needing this," he mused, slowly waving it around in his limited grip for you to take. You took it with firm hands, not daring to let it out of your sight. You recalled the last time Tech gave out his datapad, Wrecker had accidentally crushed it under some shipment containers that he was using as weights.
Yeah, it didn't end well for Wrecker.
You followed Tech's instructions to the letter T, tapping buttons, flipping some switches on the console. It felt like child's play, though you suppose the tasks were simple enough. There wasn't much conversation besides a simple discussion about what to do next, it quickly became boring to you. You'd been on this ship since the boys first went rouge and yet you still felt like you know little about the man in front of you.
Though, you only had yourself to blame. Always hanging around with Wrecker and Omega or taking quiet morning walks when available with Hunter. Even playing simple board games with Echo, yet you rarely ever spoke to Tech, which was weird considering he was your favourite out of the batch.
You would never admit it to anyone, knowing there would be discourse in the bunks and that a certain self-centred genius would grow an ego too big to carry. But you let this little thought of yours quietly stew until it would simmer into a sweet crush then eventually bubble over. That wasn't going to happen though, so far you were simmering and not bubbling, as long as nothing...romantic happened, you'd be fine.
"(Y/N), can you go to the bunks, under mine there should be a tool kit. If you could be so kind, would you retrieve it for me?" Tech asked, the top half of his body still submerged in the console. You hummed back, leaving the comfort of the cockpit and creeping into the more colder parts of the ship. Unlike Tech, you didn't have your armour on or a skin-tight black suit underneath, only your comfort clothes.
You shook and shivered as you searched under Tech's bunk, minutes later you grabbed what you needed and started heading back. The toolkit was a small thing, you couldn't help but unzip it and take a look inside. Lined up were screwdrivers with tips as small as an eyelash, too focused on the tools you ended up crashing into a hard object. First thinking it was a wall, you braced your hand against it only to find it particularly warm.
Looking up, you caught Tech's eyes under his goggles. Your cheeks went rosy, your hand still pushed against his chest. Pulling away quickly, you smushed the tool kit into his chest plates and looked away, "Sorry, wasn't looking where I was going...got distracted."
Before you had retracted your hand, Tech grasped it in a tight grip. Flicking your head back to him, mouth agape, your blush seemed to intensify, "Sorry, it's just- you're incredibly warm."
He soon let go of your hand, adjusting the small toolkit in his palm, he coughed roughly. Tech's eyes darted around the room, brown eyes tinted yellow avoiding your gaze, "I- Well, I best get back to the console..." he mumbled out. You nervously laughed along with him, "Yeah, this ship's not gonna fix itself, right?"
"Right," Tech apprehensively grinned, returning back to his bent over form under the console. You stood there for a few more moments, just watching as he worked. Your whole body shook with awkwardness, you needed to move, to walk around the ship, do anything but just stand here and watch him.
When you finally found the courage to leave the resident technician in the cockpit, you began to wander around the ship. Hands were shoved into the deep pockets of your trousers, the cuffed ends dancing against the skin above your ankle. The loose-fitting shirt you wore, barely tucked into your trousers, allowed the cool air to flow through the fabric and let your skin breathe.
