Chapter One: I'm Gonna Be A Hero?

Start from the beginning

"Yeah they're from my grandma, she's very persistent. See you soon." Today was a rough day which is a nice way of putting it. I normally don't stop to read the letter before I go home, but today was a very special occasion.

Dear Suhan,
I hope you are well. As you know today marks the 7 year anniversary of your baby sister's death so the rest of us will be visiting her. You may not attend. Your very existence reminds your mother about that unfortunate day, so we ask you to avoid going there from 10 am-4 pm. Have a good rest of your month Suhan.
Sincerely,
Your Father

If you missed that, those were the loving words of my father reminding me how much my family hates me. I'm not even allowed to visit my dead sister's grave with my family. I wish I would have died with you that night Ellie. I kept my head down as I started the long walk home. Normally I would take a bus, but I decided to walk today. Which ended up probably being the best decision I ever made. Because the events that took place that day led to me meeting two very important people in my life. So here it is.

"Please Kacchan I'm sorry I got in your way!" It sounded like a young boy in trouble. I didn't know what to do. My feet started running, I couldn't stop myself from heading in the direction of the crying boy.

"Do it Kacchan!" I heard another boy say.

"Roast him!" Roast him? This kid must have some sort of fire quirk. I can handle that. I just need to use my water quirk. A wave should do it.

Gotta make a big entrance... Gotta make a big entrance.... I came around the corner finally. "HEY!" The three boys turned to look at me. "Leave him alone!" I yelled trying to make myself look as stern as I could, which was surprisingly easy. Think it out Suhan. Three boys, one ringleader... Roast him... fire? Use your waves... if I can get them all to stand next to each other... How humid is the air today? Carbon dioxide... deep breaths.

"Huh? Who the hell are you?" Said the blond boy who I assume would be Kacchan, the ring leader.

"I'm going to be your worst nightmare if you don't let him go." Him being the boy I hadn't even looked at yet. The victim, Suhan, be aware of your surroundings. When my eyes had finally drifted to him I realized he was probably my age. "Are you ok?"

"Look little girl don't meddle in things you don't need to! You can't take me on anyway." Deep breath... blow it on your hand... I engulfed my hand in water.

"Try me." Their panting! So much carbon monoxide to use.

"No, please! It's ok. I'm fine. He's not hurting anyone..." Said the boy from the ground looking worried about me? Not hurting anyone? He's hurting you! Why are you helping him? I think this is the weirdest thing I've ever dealt with, but Kacchan growled at me. Then at the boy on the ground which just made this situation even worse.

"Shut up Deku! Now, this brat has gotten on my nerves! Taste some explosions!" This boy didn't have a fire quirk; he had an exploding quirk. I quickly jumped to the left to avoid the blast then formed a small wave with the carbon monoxide surrounding the group of boys. It was an easy trick I used to carry things I couldn't lift myself.

"What the hell?!" He struggled against the water but I had a firm grip on him. Hothead... how did he become the popular kid? People always flock to the strongest one around. "Hey whoever you are, whatever your quirk is, I will make you pay for this! You too Deku! Don't think this changes anything—" After that, I couldn't hear a word he said. As soon as I knew they were gone I ran to the boy.

"Hey, are you ok? I'd give us about ten minutes before that wave gives out and those bullies come back." He looked up at me with tear-stained eyes.

"Thank you! Nobody ever stands up for me!" His eyes were emerald green like his hair. Freckles danced across his nose and cheeks. His smile was bright, like all the darkness in the room couldn't beat its power. He was beautiful. He blushed like he just realized I was a female. "Hey sorry about that! Um, so what's your name?"
