Nino nodded slowly and I could tell he was biting the inside of his cheek by the way it hollowed in, "You're right," he told me. He turned his attention toward the teacher but it immediately shot back to me.

He scooted closer and leaned toward me, "This morning I seen a bruise on his face," he grew quieter. "I asked what happened. He told me that he tripped while fencing, and I told him that I didn't believe him."

I let out a sad breath of air. Nino continued, "That's when he told me about his mom and then he told me I was a bad friend. Could it have been defensive? Did he really mean that?"

I didn't have all the answers. But I couldn't tell Nino that. I didn't want to hurt his feelings more than Adrien had already did. I slouched down in my seat, my attention still fixed on Nino.

"I doubt he meant it, Nino. You're an amazing friend." I smiled at him. "He was just upset."

Alya told me that Adrien had always talked down on his father. Maybe he was the one to give him the bruise. Maybe after they had got the news on Emilie?

It was all starting to make sense. When I'd first walked into the school not forty minutes ago, I couldn't help but feel like something had gone wrong. Something had happened to Adrien and I could feel it, I know it sounded crazy, but in all honesty I believe that it is a gift.

Believe it or not, one day I woke up tired and then at the end of the school day, Nino told me that Adrien said he had stayed up the whole night before.

When I woke up feeling awful this morning, I had just assumed that maybe Adrien had gotten grounded or something. But would getting grounded really have Adrien feeling as bad as I did from the moment I woke up? Not a chance. Something was out of balance.

When the first period bell rang, I hopped up out of my chair, grabbed my things, and dashed from the room before anyone else had even realized it was time to leave.

When I arrived at my locker to swap text books, I seen Alya, who's brown eyes were sparkling with anger as she rushed down the hallway toward me.

"Everything okay, Alya?" I asked as I turned my focus toward my locker. I heard Alya let out a dramatic sigh and then slammed open her locker to my right.

"Something is seriously wrong with your man crush." She loaded books and papers into her book bag, slammed her locker back closed. I had to look at her then.

"What'd he do now?" I asked exasperatedly.

"Well, I asked him what had happened to his face," She started, "and then he told me he didn't need my pity, and stormed off?" she said questionably and sighed, hugging her book bag to her chest.

I frowned as I shut my locker and leaned on the wall to stare up at her. "He's probably going through... something, Alya. Just give him some time." I told her, shrugging.

"Well, he could've said it nicely." She added sarcastically while I rolled my eyes.

I nodded after and waved before I headed in the direction of my next class. I felt good that I had just... stood up for Adrien, even if he didn't have no clue who I was.

And Alya hadn't been lying, I might have had a small crush on Adrien. He was insanely tall, with a sharply defined face and blonde hair that was always so wavy it nearly always fell into his eyes. My God, his eyes...

I think his eyes were the main feature of Adrien that I had fallen to love during Sophomore year. I sat in the desk next to him and he had accidentally knocked his pencil off his desk at my feet. When he'd leaned over to grab it, I couldn't help but look at him as he moved and was more than surprised when I actually saw his eyes.
