Chapter 8

"Oh cmon Grandpa let her continue the story, I'm interested," Miyake says while closing the door of the balcony behind him

"We are not going to touch that part of my past, not now, not ever"

"You're no fun"

"Miyake, perfect timing I was just going to look for you. You said that you are dating someone, is that the truth or just an excuse to leave me alone" Shin asks while getting a bit annoyed at his friend

"It wasn't an excuse, I really am seeing someone as of yesterday" Miyake leans onto the rail while gazing into the night sky

"Ho, this is news to us, and may I ask who is it?" Melinda asks while staring into his soul and putting pressure on the young man

"The person that I am dating is Maria von Messina and don't worry she isn't someone that is going to use me or hurt me somewhere down the line. I really like her and she feels the same way. The reason why we haven't brought it up to you two is simple, there wasn't any time, with this ceremony, me visiting the smithy, and us getting together yesterday, there wasn't a good time to bring it up." Miyake explains hoping for the best

"Huuuh?! I didn't know that you actually liked her I thought that she was just your type" Shin demonstrates how utterly dense he is, and everyone ignores him

"Oh, is she the red-haired girl that you regularly hang out with?" Melinda asks

"Yep, that's her"

"Well...she isn't a bad person, but we still have talk to her parents, so can you after school come home with her to our house and after that, we can visit her house so that we can have a conversation with her parents"

"That sounds good to me, and thank you for not blowing up in a rage because I kept this from you" Miyake thanks them 

"Oh don't worry about it, as long as you're happy that's all that matters"

"Well, we have classes tomorrow so I think we should head home." Shin opens a Gate to their home

"That's true, well good night Grandma, Grandpa" 

"Good night" They both respond back

And as they walk through the Gate "Also Grandma you are most definitely continuing that story from earlier" Miyake leaves these parting words and Melinda looks at Merlin with a small smile

"I beg you don't tell them" but Melinda just walks back inside

The next day

"Yesterday was quite the day..." Shin thinks to himself while slowly getting up from his bed, and after a couple of minutes he makes his way downstairs

"Good morning Shin"

"Good morning"

"Good morning"

Miyake, Merlin and, Melinda greet him from the living room where they are drinking tea

"Good morning," he sits down with them

"Looks like you two will need to go to school through the 'Gate,' " Merlin says while looking through the window

"Huh, why?" Shin asks

"Go open the front door." and so Shin opens the front door and he looks at the front gate a little further away

"It's Shin-sama, there he is!!"

"Kyaah, Shin-sama!!"

"Shin-sama, look over here!!" the crowd that gathered at the front gate starts freaking out and Shin quickly slams the door shut
