“So you do not remember anything? At all?”

“No, I don’t officer.” I whispered irritated.

“What is the last thing you remember?”

“Falling and a sharp pain going through my head.” I said losing my patience. He was the fifth person to ask me the same questions. I was getting tired of it all. It was as if I spoke a different language and they were trying hard to see who understood it the best. If he wasn’t a cop, I would most likely slap some sense into him.

“Do you remember anything that happened before that?”

“No I don’t! How do you expect me to remember! I just recently found out what my name is and you expect me to remember everything else. All I know is that I was falling and feeling the sharp pain in my head!” I screamed at him.

“It isn’t necessary for you to screaming at me young lady,” he sounded mad.

“How would you feel if you forgot everything, from your friends and family to your own name and people kept constantly bugging you and asking the same freaking questions over and over again?!” I said breathless.

“I wouldn’t be happy at all, bu-”

“Exactly! Now can you just leave me alone for now. I really want to sleep.”

“Fine. But you will be hearing from me soon. If you remember anything at all give me a call.” he said as he pull out a small piece of paper.

“Whatever.” I answered as he walked out of my room. What the hell is going on? Why can’t I remember anything! I thought, trying to remember at least what my favorite color was.

Maybe, your brain doesn’t want you to know the truth, said a voice in my head. I had heard it before when I first woke up. I tried to ignore it, but how can you ignore something that is in your own head? May I should give it a name… I thought.

I had been in the hospital for six days, recently woke up and found out that I can’t remember a darn thing. Even if my life depended on it. I didn’t even recognize the boy that had his resting on my shoulder and holding my hand. I could see that we shared the same hair color, but there was something in me that didn’t fully trusted him. His hazel eyes looked into mine sadly, when I told him that I didn’t recognize him. He had thought that I had been joking, thinking I didn’t want anything to do with him. Even after I found out the he was indeed my older brother I still didn’t trusted, but I put those feelings aside thinking maybe it was something to do with my memory lost.

Before doctor had explained how I ended up in the hospital in the first place once he realized I had no memory, he ran several test trying to see if there was any internal damage that he had missed. I had only suffered from a concussion; which lead probably had lead to the brain damage. He explained that I was in the process of being  kidnapped by a man that the police have been after for a couple of years for what he had done to women he had previously kidnapped. The man would rape and kill his victims and then rape them after they were dead. I felt sick when the doctor was telling me this story. He then said another guy saw what was happening, and came to my aid. I was knocked out and bleeding heavily from the wound on my neck. The guy that came to my aid took me to a private hospital. The doctor at the private hospital, which happened to be the guy’s father took care of me and my injuries until they would hear something about a missing girl with my descriptions. They didn’t want to give me up so easily because of certain bruises and wounds that I had through out my body that weren’t receive from the incident. They were hoping to here from the police, instead of seeing flyers of me telling them to contacting some other guy if they knew anything about me. I stayed with them until they finally heard the police was looking for me. They got in contacted with the police and transferred me to the hospital closest to where I lived.

“Doctor, I think you should run several test for my head.” I said to him after he had finish explaining everything.

“Dawn, do not worry. You are going to get to memories back when you are ready.” he answered smiling down at me.

“No, it isn’t because of that. I think I might have brain damage! I have fallen and hit my head so many times. I’m surprise I can even think straight.” He chuckled.

“To be able to have brain damage one has to be hit on the right spot and they have to be hit many times over and over again. Just place promise me you will try to avoid hitting your head.”

“I don’t know if I can keep that promise, doc.” I said shaking my head.

“Well at least try not hitting your head anymore,” he gave a worried sigh.

“That I can do.” I said sitting up straight with a smile on my face.

“Good! You should rest now, your going to need a long recover from everything and it doesn’t help that you have amnesia. It only makes the situation stressful than it already is. I‘ll let your brother back in to see you.”

“I know and thank you,” I sighed as I made myself more comfortable on the bed.

“It’s about time they let you out!” my brother Henry had been the one to pick me up and sign me out of the hospital. He had stayed with me every day after I had woken up, the doctor had told me that they had to drag him out of my hospital room when he heard that I had been found. At night he wouldn’t want to leave my side, but was forced to do so because of visiting hours.

After spending another week at the hospital they decided to let me free. My injuries are now faded bruises. The cut from my neck had healed and the stitches were removed just before I left the hospital. There was only a slightly reddish scar in its place.

“I know, I was getting tired of the food they were serving. I never want to have hospital food again.” I said as I stuck my tongue out in disgust.

“You wanna eat something before we go back to the house?” he asked as he stopped at a red light.

“Yeah! What do you have in mind?”

“I was thinking maybe IHOP, pancakes are your favorite or do you have something else in mind,” he asked curiously looking at me.

“I don’t really have anything in my mind.” My brother chuckled. Then spoke softly, “Don’t worry about that. You’ll remember everything soon enough.” He said in a sad tone. I didn’t understand why he suddenly became sad. Did he want me to get my memory back or not? That couldn’t be it because he was my brother and he only wanted the best for me right?I I thought. I would ask him about it later, at a right time.

“Fine, to IHOP we go!” I smiled trying to lighten up his mood.
