Chapter Eight

Pleads

Hailey Jane Rexler

I slunk into my bed and fell asleep almost instantaniously. I cuddled into my cozy sheets and sighed a deep huffy breath of content. With so much troubling me, I'm suprised I could sleep at all. I drifted off into what I thought would be a black dreamless sleep, but as soon as images started to fade into my mindsight, I knew I was wrong at first thought.

The scene in my mind shifted from black to a forest, and after that, a lake as well. It was my lake, the one I liked to paint by. I ran my fingers through the icy cold water as the wind whipped around me carelessly. I started to hum, my voice was oddly wispy and echoey. Like a summer's breeze almost. Wow... how poetic, and cheesy. Whatever, it was my dream. I glanced across the lake, and my heart stopped. It was the wolf form my paintings. It was blacker than the night sky itself and it's shimmery eyes sparkled like tiny blue diamonds. It looked so content, yet intimidated at the same time. Was it scared of me?

'It's alright,' I said to the wolf. It looked in my direction and shied away. 'Don't be afraid,' It stared at me. 'You're a beautiful wolf.' I said. I realized that it wan't looking at me, but looking for me. I laughed. 'I'm over here...' I said. 'On the other side of the lake.' then it looked towards me and a wolfy grin that made my heart skip a beat crossed its face. He trolloped over to me and I reached out to touch his fur. When I did, I half expected to feel something, but of course I didn't because it was a dream. I frowned and the black wolf looked up at me with puppy dog eyes. The wind whipped at us cruely. The wolf whimpered and turned away from me, my heart sunk. It began to walk away. No, I thought. Don't leave. 'Stay...,' I pleaded. 'Stay with me.' I begged as it continued to walk. 'Please... don't leave me...' The wolf looked back at me once, and with its cold blue eyes not blinking, not moving, it slunk away into the forest.

'Hailey!' I was being shook. It's a freaking earthquake! I'm gonna die! I can't die! No! 'Hailey! Wake up! What's wrong!' My eyes burst open, only to be welcomed by a set of bright grey eyes and frizzy blonde hair... Lucy. She looked concerned.

'Luce...' I said peeling her off of me. 'What are you doing?'

'You were saying things in your sleep...' she said pouting.

'I was?' I said confused. I've never been one to sleep talk.

'Yes, muttering weird things like; don't leave me and I need you.' she said looking me worried.

'I wouldn't know why...' I said.

'What was your dream about?' she asked.

'It was about the black wolf.' I said blankly.

'What about it?' she said poofing her hair up goofilly.

'I don't know, I was just at the lake and it was there.' I shrugged.

'Okee dokey.' she said.

'Why am I up this early anyways?' I asked glancing at my digital alarm clock. Its flashing red numbers read 5:01 am.

'We're running through the plan for tonight's meeting,' Lucy said.

'Tonight's meeting...?' I muttered confused. She starte laughing.

'Wait... don't tell me you've forgotten about the meeting!' she giggled uncontrollably slamming her fists on my bed.

'I've had other things on my mind,' I admitted.
