A Generic Beginning Pt. 1

Start from the beginning

The man's head exploded on contact, sending blood and brain matter across the wall behind him, and on the couch he was sitting on. It covered Yang's fist, clothes, and face as well.

Everyone's eyes widened at what transpired.

Nora, Ruby, Oscar, and Weiss threw up on the floor, Blake and Ren looking very close to following.

"YANG!" Qrow shouted at his niece.

"I-" Yang couldn't think. She had assumed the man had aura. Otherwise, why would he openly mock what were clearly Huntsmen and Huntresses? He had to know how strong they could be. Or maybe he assumed they wouldn't attack.

"Wohahahahow!"

Everyone turned behind them, and there, leaning against the doorframe was the same man they all thought Yang had just killed. Completely unharmed.

"Wh-... But!-" Yang looked back to the couch where there should have been a fresh corpse, but instead, there was nothing. No body, no impression on the couch, and not a single drop on the furniture or the wall. And not on her either. Everyone else had noticed this too.

"You didn't even hesitate! You went right for the kill!" The man began laughing at the events that had transpired. "I mean... Wow. I mean, I guess it makes sense, what with you being hunted by people that have only wanted to kill you in these past couple days, but you didn't even know if I had aura or not!"

"Y-yo-" Winter was attempting to wrap her mind around the man's actions. He seemed to taunt them, he didn't even bother attempting to block or dodge Ms. Xiao Long's attack.

"How am I alive?"

"It was a trick right?" Emerald tried making some sense of the man's 'death'. "An illusion, like what my semblance does?"

"Hmm," The man seemed to be amused by her suggestion. "Very quick thinking," he pointed to her. "But no. That was very much real." the man smiled yet again.

"Wh-"

"All in due time," was his vague response.

"For now, you said you have questions, yes?"

Oscar let Ozpin take control, as he was the one who could handle negotiations best at the moment. "Who exactly are you, Mister..."

The man's smile seemed to drop slightly as he turned to the old soul in the boy's body. "Hmm... Ozma."

That got a reaction. Everyone that learned the truth from Jinn was immediately on guard. This man had knowledge that no one else on Remnant had. He knew of Ozma's condition. He had mentioned Salem earlier. What else did he know?

Looking to the hardwood floor, he frowned in disgust and annoyance. "Aw come on!" The vomit from those who lost their breakfast was still on the floor. "We just had this place built!"

Qrow tried getting more answers from this new mystery man. "How do you know about them?"

The man just ignored the former drunk and was more focused on the mess on the floor. "Jesus fucking Christ," he muttered. "I mean, it's not really a problem with us, well it is a problem, just not a difficult fix. But I mean, come on! It's still nasty."

Clearly, the man was in his own world. Before anyone else could do anything rash, the man pointed a finger at the mess created by the former students, and it just vanished. The audible pop and the disappearance of the vomit was a surprise to all.

Before more questions could be even thought of, the man looked up to them all and removed his sunglasses.

All of them were taken aback by his eyes. They were empty. Not that there was nothing but a socket, no. The opposite in fact. They were completely blank. His eyes weren't even a milky white because there was no iris or pupil at all. Only the whites of his eyes could be seen. It may have been their paranoia, but they could swear his eyes seemed to... glow.

Not giving them time to speak, he gestured them to follow him, nodding his head behind him. "Come on. You all want answers? This way."

Before their eyes, a rectangular doorway that radiated light split open the space behind him.

"Come on," the man said once again, and walked through the "door".

Everyone was understandably reluctant.

The man's head popped through, "Well? What's the holdup?" and just as quickly retreated back through the strange portal.

"...Welp!" Maria started toward the portal, "No point standing around here forever."

After she had gone through it, everyone looked to each other, not knowing what exactly was going on, but it seemed this would be the only way to get to know what they wanted. One by one, they all stepped through the mysterious doorway.

With Maria being the first to step out, the others followed suit into what looked like a lobby. But it appeared to be that of a movie theater. A concession stand, popcorn machines behind the counter, and foods on display in the glass counter. In the middle of the room was the same man that confused them all.

Ozpin, trying his luck again, walked up to the man.

"Please, I know you seem determined to avoid our questions, but I need to ask again. Who are you?"

The man looked back to the latest incarnation of the old wizard.

"Thank you for being patient. I can understand how frustrating it is not getting the answers you need."

The man's gaze seemed to intensify at Ozpin. The former headmaster heard clear as day the slight against him. The man continued again.

"I can at least tell you my name, for now. It's Dee."

"Dee?" questioned Elm on the man's strange name.

"Yes," was his simple reply.

"Can you tell us where Jaune is?" quickly inquired Nora.

The now identified Dee turned to Nora. "I'm sorry, but no. Not just yet."

All this did was anger Nora who rushed to give Dee a punch of her own, only for it to do absolutely nothing. This left those who knew her stupefied. Nora was a powerhouse in their group. Stepping back, Nora was confused about her punch doing nothing. Dee didn't even flinch, it was like someone slapped him with a flimsy piece of paper.

Dee only raised an eyebrow.

"Ya done?" Nora, too shocked at how useless her attack was, couldn't get a word in as Dee kept talking, "Good! Now, if you would all kindly keep following me."

Dee turned and began walking towards the hall where the theater rooms were. Not having much choice, everyone followed suit. They wanted answers, and they were determined to get them.

"What is this place? Where are we?" Asked Yang. "Obviously, we aren't in Vale, unless professor Goodwitch decided to remodel and add a theater to the Ballroom!"

Dee looked over his shoulder and responded, "Let's keep going. I need to speak with someone. You'll get your answers when you meet him."

A door with a sign above reading "Main Auditorium" was seen 10 feet ahead on their right, "Here we are!" Dee addressed his audience, "You uh... might want to prepare yourselves. It will get a bit overwhelming."

They all took a breath, readying themselves for anything. With Nora desperate for answers about her missing leader, she pushed the doors open and entered first, Ren following shortly after. Then the rest.

"Welp," Dee shrugged his shoulders. "Into the event-horizon they go... And us too..."

..............................

Unfortunately, this introduction is going to be a two-parter. I want to get into the reactions as well. Honestly, these kinds of stories are what inspired me to try this. I know this is all very unoriginal, but for my first story, I wanted to make something I would have fun doing.

My main concern of writing this story, is getting the character's personalities right. 'Is this something they would actually say?', 'Is this something they would do?', 'How do they interact with one another?', 'How would they react to what's going on?'. All things I second guess and doubt myself on.

Besides, I could always delete everything if I think I'm not doing a decent job. Or go back and edit things. There were a few ideas that I thought would be fun to do with this kind of story.
