As I waited for my dad to come into the house, I had a flashback. I randomly remembered the day that I had learned about if-then statements in geometry.

One of my best friends, Nessa Gavin, and I were sitting at the computers. We were secluded to our own area, since we did online geometry. After laughing about some hilarious SpongeBob picture, we finally started doing work.

"Hey, Ness. Look at how easy this is!" I exclaimed.

"What?" she asked with a tone of confusion in her voice. I was slightly ahead of her, so she had no clue what I was talking about.

"If-then statements," I replied. "Check out lesson 5.4. It's gonna be so easy," I explained.

"Oh, wow! An if-then statement is a statement that goes along the lines of: if p, then q. It also can be called a conditional statement," Ness read aloud. "This is so easy!"

We both smiled as we sped through the lesson, and actually got something done. From that moment on, I knew that I would always find the need to use if-then statements.

If-then statements. If p, then q. Conditional statements. Thoughts of that day were floating through my head at the moment. Ness and I never had thought that something we learned in geometry would be used in everyday life. My whole life right now was just an if-then statement. If I had made plans with a friend last night, then I would've never discovered that horrible letter. If there wasn't a storm, then the power wouldn't have gone out. If the power hadn't gone out, then I wouldn't have had to get the box of flashlights. If I didn't have to get the box of flashlights, then I wouldn't have found the hole in the wall. The thoughts of if-then statements kept going on.

If I hadn't found the hole in the wall, then I would've never found the Polaroid photo. If I hadn't found the Polaroid photo, then I wouldn't have found the letter. If I hadn't found the letter, then my mom wouldn't be dead. If I had convinced my mom harder to not go to work, then my mom wouldn't be dead. If her friend hadn't talked to her forever, then my mom wouldn't be dead. If she didn't listen to the weather forecast, then my mom wouldn't be dead. If that horrific tornado hadn't occurred, then my mom wouldn't be dead.

The words, my mom wouldn't be dead, were replaying in my head. What has happened in the past two days was now replaying over and over again. I told myself to be strong and not cry, but at this point tears were streaming down my cheeks again. Living in the past was what I was doing. It's like I'm trapped in the past, and have no way to escape. When I realized that my dad was in the kitchen, the kitchen I wiped my tears away and sucked it up. I couldn't cry in front of him. He was already depressed enough, and was trying to ignore what had happened last night.

This chapter was kind of just a filler chapter, and was random. I will update again in a few hours. I hope you are all enjoying Polaroid so far!
