chapter 5; driving

it was the day beomgyu and yeonjun were leaving for new york. beomgyu was getting done packing when yeomjun knocked on his door that was halfway open. "can i come in?"

"yeah sure" beomgyu said while zipping his luggage up. "you already packed?" yeomjun asked sitting down on beomgyus bed. "yeah pretty much, you?"

yup" yeonjun said. "what time does our plane leave?" beomgyu asked. yeonjun nervously laughed, "yeah, about that.." he scratched the back of his neck nervously.

"what did you do?" beomgyu asked. yeonjun was suddenly fearing for his life. when beomgyu was angry it was never pretty. "um, we're not taking a plane to new york, we're driving." yeomjun said. "what?!" beomgyu yelled getting suddenly very close to yeonjun.

yeonjun tried to jump off the bed and run out the door but beomgyu already knowing what he was thinking grabbed his foot preventing him from doing so.

"we're not driving to new york, no way." beomgyu said still holding yeonjuns foot.  "why not?" yeonjun said, his body dangling in the air on the edge of the bed. "neither of us are good navigators, and i don't have my driver's license yet." beomgyu said finally letting go of yeonjun.

yeonjun flipped over on his back now looking at beomgyu who was glaring at him. "i'll drive us." beomgyu widened his eyes in fear. "oh no, no, no, no way am i getting in a car you're driving."

"Come on please" yeonjun pleaded. "ok fine" beomgyu said praying that he wasn't gonna regret this.

yeonjun was driving and beomgyu was in the passenger seat. he was changing the radio stations when it landed on a awesome song by fall out bois. beomgyu turned it up and started dancing in his seat with his seatbelt on. yeonjun kept stealing glances at his crazy friend.

"i love this song!"  screamed while banging his head wildly to the music. "i know i can tell" yeonjun said and started laughing. "come on yj sing along" beomgyu said.

yeonjun not being able to say no started "kidnap my love, take it all,"

beomgyu watched as yeonjun was singing to the radio song. his voice was so beautiful and unique. it sounded like magic. beomgyu loved the way yeojuns hair looked getting blown in the wind, his cute smile and the way his fox like eyes shined with happiness.

"-gyu" beomgyu snapped out of his love filled daze when he was startled by yeonjuns voice saying his name. "what?" beomgyu asked blinking his eyes coming back to reality.

"i've been calling your name for 3 minutes and you didn't answer." yeonjun said with concern looking worriedly at his best friend.

beomgyu sat up straight and looked away looking out the window. "i was just trying to drown out your annoying singing," beomgyu said trying to act like he was annoyed with him and not secretly daydreaming about his best friend who was sitting in the drivers seat. "oh!" yeonjun said gasping while placing the hand that wasn't on the wheel on his chest acting offended. "you know you love my singing," yeonjun said grinning at beomgyu then looked back at the road.

"maybe, but i definitely don't love your life or death driving skills" beomgyu said in a deadpan voice.

"hey i got my drivers license" yeonjun said. "yeah, but they probably only gave you it cause they didn't want to continue being in the car with the joker." beomgyu said.

beomgyu and yeonjun continued playfully bickering and teasing each other all throughout the car ride. and even though beomgyu was silently saying prayers to jesus to let him live through the ride, beomgyu loved every single second of the drive because just like a wave, his love for yeonjun was crashing all around him, helplessly and unrequitedly.
