"What are they?!"

"Tracker jackers," Rue replies. I've heard of them. They can kill you with a single sting. If you're lucky enough you'll go mad but stay alive. Maybe that's worse.

"Are they going to kill us?!" I panic.

"I don't know!" Rue exclaims.

"Well, we could use it as a weapon. Drop it on the career's camp," I say. Rue considers the idea.

"Wouldn't it cause lot's of noise, like, when we are cutting the nest?"

"Oh yeah that's true....the anthem! That's our chance," I say.

"Okay. Let's do it," Rue agrees. Soon enough, the anthem starts to play. We are not even looking for the faces. We fish the knife out of the shoe and start sawing the branch that the hive is hanging from. Back and forth, back and forth; it's quite a lot of work but with the two of us we are almost done when the anthem is over.

"Well?"

"Let's finish tomorrow morning, I'm tired,"

"Yeah sure. How are we gonna sleep though?"

"Oh we'll just have to be careful."

"Ok, I'm really sleepy, I think I will have to sleep."

"Yup."

We both come back down a few branches so to make sure we aren't stung by the bees. I am surprised by a small parachute waiting for us.

"Haymitch!" I exclaim in a whisper. I open up the parachute and inside there is a small tin of ointment.

"Thank you Haymitch," I thank and open the lid. I pull up my pants so I can see the burns and Rue gently applies the ointment. It's soft and the pain in my legs go away.

"We better save this stuff," Rue says as she puts on the lid and puts the tin in the shoe.

"Sure, but we should sleep now."

"For sure."

"Good night Prim."

"Good night Rue."

The next morning I wake up, I have miraculously stayed up in the tree. Rue as well. I give her a gentle shake and am very careful, she could fall off. As soon as her eyes open, I whisper,

"Be careful, we're in a tree."

Rue nods and get's up carefully. Last night she had put the shoe in between where two branches diverged in a Y shape, so that it was wedged in between. She gives it a light tug and it comes out.

"Oh yeah, Bunny," I say as I reach into my jacket pocket, where I had put him last night.

"So...are we ready to cut the nest?" Rue asks.

I look down. We're going to be killing innocent people. It's disturbing. There's even Peeta. I take a deep breath.

"Can we please save Peeta?" I ask.

"How?"

"Well I don't know, maybe drop a small rock on him or something."

"He might wake the others up."

"Well then I'll keep the rock and just as the nest is almost about to fall, I'll drop it so he get's an early alert."

"Fine."

So Rue and I start to saw the branch again. There really isn't much left, considering what we did yesterday. Back, forth, back, forth. Then when I feel like it could fall any moment, I aim and throw a rock and it hits exactly where I aimed, Peeta's arm. I'm so glad that he doesn't make any sounds, he just kinda sits up looking bewildered. He looks up and his eyes meet mine, Rue's, then he looks at the nest and his eyes go round.

"Run!" I mouth and we cut the final bit off the nest and the nest drops down onto the floor. We can still see Peeta, but he is running away. Cato is the first one to wake up.

"Run!" He screams and starts running away. Clove follows, then Marvel. Glimmer and Marina wake up a few seconds too late. The tracker jackers are stinging them. Glimmer sways, twitching violently, then falls to the ground. The cannon sounds. Marina is able to walk a few yards but she eventually falls down and her cannon sounds as well. The other tracker jackers have all flew to follow the others that had run earlier, so Rue and I are safe.

"That was..."

"Scary!"

"Horrifying!"
"Deathly!"

"Gross!" I say as I see Glimmer's dead corpse on the floor. She's swollen up a lot and there is green stuff oozing out from places that she was stung.

"Well we should get moving," Rue says.

"Agreed!"

"Ugh! This shoe is getting heavy!" Rue exclaims. We climb down the trees, Rue with the shoe and me with Bunny. I look at Glimmer and it's tempting. We could snatch her shoes and then go.

"Rue, let's take another shoe," I say. She looks over at Glimmer.

"Okay, but make it quick. The careers will come back for us," Rue answers.

"I'll be quick," I say and head over. She doesn't exactly look beautiful, but I see patients all the time, so I've seen worse. I just tug at her shoe, but it doesn't exactly work. I'm untying her laces when both Rue and I hear a noise coming towards us. It's Peeta.

"What are you guys doing here! Run!" He yells. I give one final tug and the shoe comes lose. Rue and I are bewildered, confused, unable to find a logical explanation. But we do what he tells us to, anyways. We run. We run like there might be no tomorrow, which is true. It seems like that's all we've been doing for the past few days but we have to survive. We make a quick stop so Rue can move some items from the shoe she is carrying to mine. Then we run again. The next time we stop is when we see a bed of pebbles, and we stop to scoop some into the boots as ammo, to use with the slingshot. And after that, we just run, run, and run.

~A/N~ I'm posting lot's and lot's of chapters :) Here are some of my thoughts after writing this chapter. Firstly, is it too similar with the original? The tree that Rue and Prim find is the exact one that Katniss finds in the novel. But I guess I've been trying to make it as similar as possible. I actually have the book next to me so I read a chapter, write a chapter, and so on.

I wrote that Prim threw a rock at Peeta, and I realized that Prim and Rue never really went to get stones...so where'd the rock come from? Please refer to you imagination to answer this question.

And I hope you guys didn't forget about Noah, because he's coming up soon. Do you think I should just kill him? Or let him live for Prim's sake? Comment down below~!
