It was one small movement and caught you off guard, but it felt like flutters in your stomach. It wasn't painful, more like a tickle. You had read online that the baby's first movements was called quickening.

The baby in your stomach became active all of a sudden. You look up at Nico who just looked perplexed. It's only natural he wouldn't know what to do.

"You can touch it if you want."

It was probably weird letting a guy you've been seeing for only a short time touch your belly, let alone before the actual father could.

"I uh-", he stammered. "I don't think that would be-Are you sure?"

"Yeah, why not?"

Nico hesitantly reaches out to your stomach. His face looked as if he was full of different emotions which you couldn't read and multiple thoughts were running through his mind at once.

He pulls his hand away. Your phone vibrated and it was a text from Terushima asking where you were.

You had never bothered to tell Nico about your living situation with Yūji. It never came up and you didn't think it mattered much but somehow you accidental brought up the topic.

The car ride back was almost completely silent. The quietude was broken by an irresolute Nico.

"What's wrong?", you ask. "You look anxious."

"I don't think we should see each other anymore."

"Wait what? Why?", you say in slightly in shock.

"I know I said I was okay with it, but I don't really think I can date a pregnant woman", Nico continues.

"It may seem selfish, but I just don't think I can be with someone who's having another man's child."

"Oh..."

It wasn't like you never expected this. You don't usually see guys dating moms-to-be, especially at such a young age.

"Yeah, I get it."

"I'm sorry", he says. "I hope you're not mad."

"It's fine, don't be. And no I'm not mad. It's not your fault."

"Seriously though. Why am I always the one getting broken up with? I should be the one initiating it", you vent over the phone to Atsumu.

"And just after I started learning more about him too", you groan. "Why am I always the one getting broken up with? I should be the one initiating it."

You sigh. "I guess I can't blame him though. I'm pregnant and living with my ex for fuck's sake. He probably thought we still have something going on."

"To be honest, I don't think there was much of a spark between us anyway. He's a good looking guy and all but he's too... How do I put this? Nice."
