      Spring was in the air. Happiness filled the atmosphere, surely something was going on. The "Peace festival" was on its way. Sitting on a platter to wait on people to grab it and enjoy to the fullest. Petals decorated the town along with daisies and daffodils. Tye dye clothing and flower accessories filled each booth as you walked through. We're in a second wave of a hippie movement since 1960's & 70's. Instead we opt for real human interactions instead of wasting our lives playing in virtual reality, and we tend to fight for human rights that have diminished slowly after the pandemic of the 2020's. I was born in 2060, so the only things I know about the pandemic was my grandmothers stories. She also said "back" in her day everyone had way more rights than we do now.
      Coming back to topic, the Peace festival is always my favorite event of the year. All the daisi'loos**** gather together, take hallucigens, celebrate human nature, play yard games and talk till sunrise.

****Daisi'loo: most often seen in teens & young adults. Is a term to describe a person who wears hippie, floral, or boho fashion. They often have old hippie qualities but these modern hippies often opt to use older technology, talk face to face, don't game, choose public transport, and often do drugs to "chill out" & spend lots of time outdoors often around city fountains, under or on bridges, flower parks and outdoor food courts. They typically will live in groups in small apartments. The term "Daisi'loo" came from the daisy patterns and accessories women often choose to wear. People opted it for a gender neutral term for all modern hippies.****

      After doing some town shopping I decided to hop on an air sub. It's a train that shoots through a tube, deleting the purpose of railroad tracks. It's the new public transportation technology the country implemented ten years ago to finally strengthen travel across the United States. It is very handy and more accessible than my Grandmothers days where they where forced to own a car if they wanted to get back and forth from work with ease. Not only does it save you the cost from gas prices and car insurance, it's very dependable for Daisi'loo's who refuse to own a car to defend their freedom of movement. Which has not been taken yet. Also I tend to find it relaxing, I do most of my thinking on an air sub. I was at home at last, but my other two roommates seem to be gone. I set my bags down and went to the couch to sit. Then I pulled out my flip phone to check it. 

      I had three missing calls from my father. When someone calls me more than once, I automatically become concerned. Hurriedly I call him back while bitting my nails only for him to give be a scare after answering the last second. "Hello Father?" 

"Pumkin? you didnt answer earlier" he replied

"Sorry dad. I was doing some shopping" 

"Oh Pumpkin..." he sighs sadly "Your mother isn't doing so good these days. The new treatment costs just as much as a car" he said.

"Dad..." I reply "how much is it this time?" 

"At least ten grand" he replid.

"Well I miiiight be broke right now but I swear I'll do what I can dad" I reassure him.

"You can't do that Pumpkin- your future–" 

"She is my mom, family help each other right? You tell me you wouldn't rather be broke than to see your mom die?" 

He sighed briefly and replied "You're right Pumpkin. But promise me we'll do it together"

"Of course Dad, I love you bye" 

      After hanging up I sighed and slumped into the couch. My stressed hands begin to inch towards the half filled bowl on the coffee table. Just by looking at it i could tell there was at least 4 more hits left. It was enough to make my muscles relax after a stressful conversation. I smoked the few hits and realized I needed more to escape the sick feeling in my chest, but I was too lazy to get up for more drugs. I became one with the silence only tuning my ears in on the ticking of the clock.
