I always forget how hard it would be without your fingertips gripped firmly on my skin
your touch in the moments where I could just crumble to dust
I forget how grounded you make me feel
when the earth is cracking beneath my feet
without you the world would still be unfamiliar terrain
filled with traps to disintegrate me further, shredding me into mush
I was a void
an endless burning darkness
consumed in all my misery
And with you it feels like anything is possible
our old wrinkled fingers interlaced eternally
When I can no longer stand upright from the heavy boulder on my shoulders
you take off some of the weight
just so i can take a breath
enough to keep me going
even when it feels like nothing will
You are the oxygen in my lungs
you are the candle in the cave of darkness
you are my lifeboat
You found me.
