"How are you planning on getting fired this time?" Carlie asks.

"I'm not sure yet, but I want you both there with me." Chris says.

They continue to talk about random whatever until they get close to Chris' house. Once they do, they all notice a large truck at the house next to Chris'.

"What's going on there?" Angelo asks.

"Already?" Chris wonders aloud.

"Already what?" Carlie asks.

"The house next to ours sold a little while ago. Whoever bought it must be moving in." Chris says, "Aaaannnd my mom is talking to them. Maybe if we're quick, she won't - "

"Chris!"

"Fuck." Chris mutters under his breath.

"Come over here!" Chris' mother calls, enthustiastically.

Chris sighs and rolls his eyes, then walks over as told. Carlie and Angelo follow.

"Chris, this is Phil and Sophie McClain, our new neighbors."

"It's nice to meet you." Sophie says with a smile, extending her hand. Chris just gives a small smile and shakes her hand. He shakes Phil's as well.

"Oh. We have a daughter about your age that I'm sure would love to meet you all." Phil says, "McKayla!"

Oh, great. Chris thinks sarcastically to himself.

A girl walks out. She had long, dark brown hair that was put into a high ponytail on top of her head. She wore no jewelry except for a small silver charm bracelet around her left wrist along with plain earrings and a cartilage piercing. Her clothes consisited of a black 'Slipknot' T-shirt, faded jeans, and black converse. Her green eyes quickly scanned the people in front of her before going to her dad.

"Yeah?" She asks.

"This is my son, Chris; the one I was telling you about." Chris' mother introduces.

She looks to Chris and gives a small, sideways smile. She steps forward and approaches him.

"Hi. I'm McKayla."

Chris quirks an eyebrow, "McKayla McClain." He states.

"Yeah, my parents didn't really think that one through when they were naming me." She says, referring to the repetition in her name.

Chris nods, "Well, I'm Chris. This is my friend, Angelo and my girlfriend, Carlie."

McKayla nods, "Nice to meet you."

Angelo notices her shirt, "You a fan of Slipknot?"

"Are you kidding? Slipknot is the sh- " But she then cuts herself off when she remembers her parents behind her, "The bomb."

Chris chuckles. At least she was funny.

"I like your bracelet." Carlie says.

McKayla looks down at her bracelet, then back to Carlie, "Thanks. It was a...gift."

Something about the way she said that was weird...

"Well, we were just gonna go to Sheetz. Do you wanna come?" Chris asks.

"What's Sheetz?"

"You don't know Sheetz?!" Angelo asks.

"Well now you have to come with us!" Carlie says.

McKayla smiles, "I should be able to. Let me just ask my parents."

"Okay. We're just gonna drop our stuff off at my place and then we'll be right out." Chris says.
