michael: it's the different parabolas, and what they make. like if it's a negative number in the front, the parabola will face down, and depending on how big or small the number is, it'll narrow or widen. for example, you see how it has -3|x-2|+4? that means that it'll go on the y-axis up four, it'll be at plus two on the x-axis because for some reason negative numbers equal positive on the x-axis, and it'll narrow and face downward by three. do you understand it a little better now?
