"That's it!" Colt kept one hand on the wheel and twisted, swinging back at Carter who just laughed and dodged. That his until Colt landed a hard punch to his thigh.
"OW! You fucker!" Carter shouted. "That hurt!"
"Good! Don't touch my girl!"
I just rolled my eyes and went back to messing with my playlist. "You two are worse than children."
As if planned, both men responded with: "HE STARTED IT."
"Really wishing we'd kept the parties separate..."
Colt looked at me and pouted. "Really?"
"No, you big dummy," I sighed. I leaned over and smacked a kiss on his pout. "But we could've left Carter at home."
"I'm the best man, goddammit. No you couldn't."
"No, Beau's the best man. You're just a groomsman."
"Just a groomsman? JUST a groomsman? Guess I'll cancel the strippers."
"Good. Don't want strippers anyway," Colt retorted.
I turned and squinted at Carter, confused. "How were you gonna do strippers when we're all mixed together? Cora and Mel and I don't wanna see naked ladies."
"I could get both."
"I don't need to see any banana hammocks, thanks," Colt interjected. "Hard pass."
"Well there goes my entire beach wardrobe," Carter sighed. "Y'all are bound and determined to make this trip suck for me."
"Ain't too late to turn around."
"Yes, it is," I argued.
"Next you're gonna tell me I ain't allowed to bring anybody back to the house."
Colt and I just stared at each other, fighting identical smiles.
"NO! GODDAMMIT! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"
"We took a house vote..."
"No! No you didn't!" Carter cried, "Cuz no one asked me!"
"Because we knew your vote, dipshit," Colt chuckled.
"That's not fair!" Carter whined. "You can't bring me to Florida for... eight fuckin days and not let me find a cute little blonde beach bunny. That's not cool."
"You can find one," I stated, "you just have to go back to hers."
"Oh, so does that mean you guys aren't fucking in the house either? That's only fair, right? Everyone gets to fûck or no one gets to."
"First of all," Colt began, "we paid for the house, so I'll fuck her on any damn surface I please..."
"Jesus, Colt," I laughed.
"Second, the rest of us aren't complete strangers. It doesn't count. I don't want you bringing all your random Tender hookups..."
"It's TINDER, you grandpa."
"Whatever. You shoulda brought a vacation girlfriend."
My brow furrowed. "A what?"
"A vacation girlfriend," Colt repeated, as if I should've just known what that meant. "Ya know? Like... you date a girl for the purpose of bringing her on a couples' trip so you ain't the odd man out?"
"No. No I don't know. People do that?"
"Colt did."
I blinked rapidly. "I'm sorry, what?"
