like a sunflower in a sea of black ashes she stood out. and in the ocean of drowning tears and grieving faces, a warm smile was painted on her face, though if you zoomed in close you would see the little sadness that stood behind it.
after everyone went home to cry themselves to sleep and grieve for years' worth, she stood there in her bright yellow summer dress that her mother has bought her years ago.
a mix of roses, daisies and her mother's favorite, sunflowers, were all wrapped in a small bouquet and the same warm smile edged her lips as she stood Infront of the fresh grave.
she wasn't sad for her loss, in fact she was happy, her sadness was taken away with the wind when the coffin was lowered to the grave. all these years, it has made her sad to know that her mother was suffering each day and will suffer more on the next. she had done her best to help her, but it was of no use. the doctors had told her that there was no hope for a cure, and she had to understand that and even though she did understand that pretty well she still tried to ease her mother's pain.
now standing in the open blossoming grave yard under the warm rays of the sun, she pictured her mother's peaceful form as she lay on her death bed. she looked relaxed and rather happy. she was at peace, and her pain was finally gone. and all that just made Lucy happy, happy for the first time because now in her heart and soul she knew that her mother was cured and no longer in pain but rather at peace.
