Chapter 5: Tears

   I run outside and look for Daniel. I see him with John, walking to the football field. I go from a run to a jog, running out of breath.
   They still don't notice me as I finally catch up to them. "Daniel." I managed to speak out, still trying to catch my breath.
   Daniel and John both stop, turning to see me. "Hey, what's up? Are you ok?" Daniel asks, approaching me.
   "Meghan knows my secret." I say, finally catching my breath. "Did you tell her?"
   Daniel suddenly turns serious. "No, I didn't. Wait, she knows?"
   "Apparently." I say sadly, staring at the ground.
   Daniel is fuming. "I'm gonna go ask her what her problem is. I'm gonna ask who told her and when-"
   "NO!" I yell, interrupting him. "If you ask her how she knows, then she'll know I'm gay! I'll be bullied mercilessly!"
   "Wait, you're gay?" John asks.
   I forgot he was here.
   "I-I'm." I stutter. I turn and run.
   "Kane, wait!" I hear Daniel yell. I don't stop. I ran the entire way home.
   I run through my front door. Nobody home. Nobody to see my tears. I run into my room and fall onto my bed and cried.
