Chapter 41

I groaned silently and grabbed the basket from his hand.

"Five is already enough!"

"For a week." Bahagya siyang yumuko. "And... there is always equality between us. Five is an odd number, so we must make it even.

I averted my eyes off him before I even fall for his trick.

"Now, four is even," I said strictly.

I glanced at him, and he was now staring down my cart mountained with items listed in my phone. Of course, this is how it supposed to be.

He started counting the box of Pocky on top of the mountain of items before his eyes drifted to me, ready to say something. I raised my brow at him, and his lips opened and closed, swallowing his words.

I smirked when his shoulders were hunched and began pushing our grocery cart instead. He looked so downhearted.

I tiptoed and stretched my neck up to his ear and whispered, "I love you, Axe."

His shoulders stilled, his eyes ricocheted in my direction, and his cheeks and ears flushed, but he didn't say anything.

"I love you so much, Axasiel!" I shouted, making other customers around us turn their heads to us.

Ah, sorry not sorry for declaring my love publicly that loud, Axasiel. Lalo kong niyakap ang kanyang braso.

"How can you hide yourself now when you let me borrow this," bulong ko at itinaas ang hood ng kanyang jacket na suot ko sabay hila sa strings para sumikip iyon. "Gusto mong sumigaw pa ako ng isa pa?"

"Izzy," he called in a warning tone.

I only pouted.

I don't want him to throw that chance but I'm not gonna lie: I'm relieved with his decision.

He then told me that he had already set a plan to pursue a master's degree in forensic science after his bachelor's... and that he's most likely to take it abroad. By that time, I'm probably working my fingers to the bone. And, hopefully, we are ready to be apart for a long time and have a long-distance relationship. Hindi naman kasi talaga maiiwasan iyon.

It was raining cats and dogs when we arrived at home. Mag-drive. I chuckled at the thought. He knew that after three months of using my car, I easily got tired using it. In the end, he and Ral enrolled in a driving school so they could get their student's permit and eventually became my drivers. Kapag sinipag, ako ang nagda-drive.
